Highly recommend this reel
Before getting the AMS reel , I thouyght that it was a bit high priced, but after using it, it is not over priced!!! This is an excellent product, easy to use, Quality built and flawless in operation. When it comes to bowfishing the AMS is the real deal.
You need it
Great product, easy to use, strong, efficiency, the only "black spot" it's a little bit heavy on light bow.
Best reel yet
I've been bowfishing for 32 years and I wish These were around in the old days. I wish they had 50 yard line capacity( yeah I shoot beyond the limited 25 yds supplied).I would like to see them co-op with whisker biscuit for better fitting together as I've had to get creative with mounting so the two will work together ( not hard just could be easier.
Simple, effective and reliable
I'm a big fan of the AMS bowfishing reels. I have used the regular model and now the pro model. The pro model has the arrow holder which can be useful when you might lay your bow down and move the boat to different positions. Or when walking to different positions. The reel itself is a simple design which is very safe. As long as I do not put the string behind the arrow rest and… read more place the string onto the notch on the front of the bottle; the string feeds perfectly and safely. This simple design allows the person bowfishing to concentrate on shot accuracy and the joy of harvesting fish instead of technical gadgets. I would not use anything other than the AMS reel and safety slide system because it's been effective at keeping me focused on the fun and has been a very reliable system. Why fix what isn't broken? The bottle is flexible and seems to be built well enough to sustain most wear and tear. If broken you can purchase a new bottle. The string material is also easily replacable. This reel is perfect for carp.
Awesome product!
Easy to setup and use. I put it on a Fred Bear Take-down recurve with 35 pound limbs. I went out two days ago and I'm still sore. I bet I pulled my bow over 200 times. After missing a lot, I started shooting lower and BAM! Slayed the talapia! There were 5 of us bow fishing on 2 boats. All of us had the same product on different bows. None of us had any malfuntions. One guy did have… read more his string break on the shot. He missed the fish and had to dive in to retrieve his arrow. His rig was 4 years old and he never replaced his string. I was so impressed with the ease of operation and how well it did on my recurve. That recurve is great for snap shots and the reel held up to every pull. I highly recommend this product.
This is screwed into ATA accessory bushings. You can use the AMS strap adapter if you do not have bushings.
The left and right is determined on if you have a left or right handed bow. They will attach to any bow that has AMO accessory bushings installed.
Yes it will mount to the AMO Accessory bushings on the side of the riser.
If you have an adapter or the riser inserts close enough together then it will. If you have just a factory bow then it will not.
No, the quiver needs to be removed.
As long as your bow has the accessory bushings on the side of the riser then you will have no problem mounting it.
No you would need the AMS adptor
I'm pretty sure that it is not. This real mounts to the standard AMO sight inserts. The bear bows do not have the correct attachment inserts. You will likely need this ( http://www.3riversarchery.com/ams-bowfishing-traditional-mount-adapter.html) unless you want to drill into your riser.
Yes, I have been using mine on a Sage for 5 years now. Its a great set up.
Yes it does.
Yes.
Yes, what you see is all there. All that you would need to order besides this is the arrow (if you're not ordering the starter kit) and attachment piece
Yes it does
Yes
I don't have any direct knowledge on this one. I bought one of the AMS reels for my son. His bow had threaded quiver mounting holes in his bow. The AMS reel bolted right to the bow, and we did not have to use any mounts.
Never used the seperate mount before.I've only bought the whole kit but it is awsome best kit to me. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPod
Yes, that is what we use.
