I'm sorry, I meant to reply to this sooner but forgot. If you still need the info here goes. The brim is floppy, no wire, and not stuff enough to shape how you like it. I believe that howsoever it sits on your head dictates the shape. I really like the hat, it sits down well on my head and is comfortable. I receive many complements on it so it is definitely a nice hat since I am not pretty! The brand name is Broner, they have a website you can check out that may give you more info. It depends on the type of fit you prefer. It looks like you would wear a small/medium. A small would be considered a stretched size fit and a medium would be considered an easy fit size. These are just recommendations and it comes down to a personal preference of fitting.

The feather crest can be removed, it just slides in between the band and the hat.

Know this hat can be worn in the summer

Hello Don, No, I do not think it would be too warm, even in South Texas- my area. You can approach this similar to the late 1800’s in my area when the military at the time (Buffalo Soldiers, Scouts, and Federal Soldiers) would wear wool uniforms. As ridiculous as it may have seemed, the uniforms provided early air conditioning in a sense- You might be sweating, but when the wind blows you have “air conditioning”. Enjoy the hat! Thx.

Sorry to be vague, but I guess it depends on who you are and where you live. I am very hot natured, sweat readily and profusely, and live in the humid Southern climate of Eastern North Carolina. I receive lots of compliments on it, and I also wear it as part of my uniform as my son's Cub Scout Den leader. If you don't know your hat size I suggest using their sizing guide. I did and it helped. The hat may stretch a little and fit differently depending upon your hair length/thickness (mine is almost gone!) Hope this helps, any more questions just ask! Yes it is leather. It is a great hat.

The hat will take some crushing, but if it is repeatedly smashed it can start to loose its shape.

According to the tag that came on the hat it is crushable as well as water and oil resistant. I haven't really put the crushable part to the test extensively, but I haven't been careful with it and it's been buried under quivers, packs, bows, etc. And has returned to shape just fine.
