Nice practice darts
Darts are made with very nice ash wood and will only require some light straightening. There is plenty of fletching material and a very nice point. The shaft id also tapered at the tip and has an adequate cup at the end to fit your thrower.
My first Atlatl
I am new to Atlatls and a recreational archer. I just started building my own arrows and the Atlatl dart kit with the Catatonk Hunter Atlatl. I watched Bob Berg's video on how to build them several times. The three darts that I built came out pretty good for a first timer. All three shafts had a uniform bow when I received them so they required some straightening. Some of the fletches… read more had minor blemishes when they arrived but would not affect performance. Make sure that your fletches do not bunch up, (ie. does not lay flat against shaft when wrapping the sinew), before you tie the knot. A couple of mine did. There was enough leftover sinew from each kit to use on some arrows I am building that I also purchased from 3Rivers. The taper on the shaft fit the points perfectly.
More fun than a barrel of monkies!
I use to show people how the native people hunted before the bow and arrow. I do this at a Native American village located in Dorchester County Maryland.
These are fantastic!!!
Yeah, you need these. In combo with the Atlatl kit, the family was busy all morning building, and the next 3 days throwing, then after school too. No hay bale is safe - New appreciation for round bales... Rabbit hunt this Sat.
Great product
This was exactly what I wanted. The instructions were very easy to follow. Overall I am very happy with the speed of shipping and the product.
They are bare shafts .
Yes, these are tapered at one end for your points.
Yes these are 72 inches long. The approximate weight of a shaft is 2260 grains. This weight will vary from shaft to shaft.
You will have to assemble the arrow.
The kit requires minimal assembly. The field point is easily glued to the shaft; somewhat more challenging is applying the fletching (which is included) I used glue for this as well but you can attach the feathers using the artificial sinew that is also included. Hope this helps.
It's a kit..i.e. you have to assemble. Part of the experience. Suggest you ad some pine pitch to order...smells great and looks good.. not hard. ...https://www.3riversarchery.com/natural-pine-pitch-waterproofing.html
You have to assemble it, there are instruction with it, however I suggest you go online and watch how to fletch it, direction sound a bit vague, videos are good lesson on how and why. Joe
The darts are 6 foot long on average.
They average six feet (72") in length.
