Wouldn't recommend
Following install per the procedures provided with the package there was a ring or dried adhesive bubbled up around the inserts. I've not has this issue on any two part epoxy mixtures.
Works for me on wooden arrows
I was looking for an alternative for mounting field points and broadheads to my wooden shafts. Hot melt glue was leaving points and heads in my targets. I have logged many hundreds of shots with Insert Iron and never lost a tip. I was advised to give a bit of extra time to let it set up and have done so feeling that this is a small price to pay for the confidence of a strong… read more connection.
Good glue
This glue dries slowly and is somewhat expensive, but it does the job right. Six months of shooting and no inserts pulled out. It is heat reversible, a plus for those that use aluminum arrows, but for carbon arrows like mine, it's permanent. I cleaned the inserts will a light solvent before treating, and handled them with latex gloves to avoid any oils being on them when they were… read more glued up, but make sure the solvent is completely dry before you glue.
Sliced bread? This is better!!
I was struggling setting my field points with alcohol burner and hot wax. Insert Iron made the job quick and easy. Extra one for the quiver is a life saver. Insert Iron...fantastic!
Ongoing issues with glue
I bought this stuff to use on carbon shafts, and the glue itself performed adequately (not better than other glues already out there and cheaper) but, like super glue, it's hard to keep it from setting up in the bottle. Most of it is wasted. There has got to be a better way of packaging these newer glues.
Excellent Product
This stuff is really easy to work with and as the name implies...insert iron, it is. Great product.
Will stay with epoxy.
This glue seems to be rather weak compared to epoxy. After a month of heavy shooting I start to loose inserts in targets. This is with cleaning/roughing up the inside of the arrow and the insert as well as 3 day of cure time before shooting. What it does have going for it is ease of use. It is a good idea and if it is re-formulated for greater strength I will try it again.
Consider..
As a first time arrow crafter, this stuff may be a bit pricey, but the quality well outshines its tag. After the curing process, the glue holds to its namesake, and my points have held on strong through all sorts of wet/dry/hot/cold weather. I have not found anything faulty after hundreds of shots with my arrows. Would recommend!
Works great
This was my first DIY use of inserts. The glue was easy to use, not messy, and is holding well.
Good Product easy to use
After reviewing 3 Rivers Archery catalog I thought it looked good. Upon receipt I was impdressed with qulaity.
I would recommend using the epoxy that comes with the arrows when you buy them. If the grain scale does not work you may send it back and we can send you another one out.

Insert Iron is recommended for use with carbon and aluminum arrows, not for wooden arrows. Heat reversing any glue with carbon arrows can lead to a weakening of the end of the shaft. Do not apply heat directly to the shaft or insert. I recommend using a field point to apply the heat.
I do not recommend this for wooden arrows. It does not bond to wood very well. I recommend Fer-L-Tite for the points and the fletching glue for the nocks.
Yes, this will work well for carbon arrows.
Yes, this is what we use when mounting inserts into our own arrows. You apply it to the inserts and then rotate the insert as you push it in to make sure that you get an even distribution. Wait a few hours for it to dry and then you will be good to go.
