HIT Inserts - Simple as that.
I've recently started building my own arrows and really like the HIT inserts. The only time I have ever had an issue with these inserts is when a technician at Cabelas didn't know how to glue them in and the bond broke free during use. The package is very simple. You have the HIT inserts in the package, the insert tool for properly inserting the HIT insert in the arrow, and finally… read more the shaping tool for basic squaring of the arrow and smoothing out the inside edge of the arrow. You definitely want to use the shaping tool that looks like a small grinding stone. At the very least it will smooth the inside edge of the arrow allowing broadheads and fieldpoints to be inserted easier into the arrow without binding. Don't try and install the inserts with any other tool other than what comes in the package. The little green tool pushes the insert to the correct depth inside the arrow and cleans off the excess glue. No reason to try and reinvent the wheel on this one. Use the proper amount of glue per the instructions and the HIT insert will last a long time. Give them a try if you are using carbon arrows designed with HIT technology.
These inserts weigh 16 grains each.
