This glue is tuff! I let an arrow slip before I was ready and hit a big rock. Luckily it was a filed point. The insert did NOT slide out of the arrow due to vibration like many inserts have done before. This stuff works very well. However, you do not have much time to slide the insert into the shafts before it starts to grab. You better be quick! If you are not quick, you better… read more have something hard to be able to hit the insert into the arrow the rest of the way before it grabs and sets up any more. Once it locks up, it does not move!

Can an insert be removed by heating an attached point or is the insert permanently bonded to the shaft?

It can be removed. Get an old field point with good threads. Put it in a vise thread out. Heat it with a plumber's torch till glowing red. Thread the arrow on it. You will feel the insert loosen. Pull back on the arrow before the carbon gets too hot. Should come right out. Be sure to clean inside the carbon shaft before installing a new insert.

Is there a working time for the glue? In other words, does it bond instantly or are there several minutes to wait before the glue will set permanently? Thank you for your help.

Depending on temperature of course it only takes about 5 mins maybe a lil longer to be a solid hold. It sets up fairly quick.
