Very informative
Great DVD
Very good for beginner or someone who has experience in bow building. Very detailed and informative. You should be able to buy all the materials and tools needed from watching this video.
Good DVD
I really enjoyed the DVD and it did have a lot of very useful information but i did feel that some parts could have used a more indepth explanation, especially for the beginner, i.e. the 4 spaces used on the jointer planer for tapering. Also the rubber bands usage could have also used more info as well.
Bow building dvd
a great dvd resource for the budding bow builder.well made too , good picture quality and sound etc..lots of really good easy to follow instruction which could lead any one with a little diy experience a long way towards making his/her own bows.on the down side and probanly because of time costraints the dvd was a little short where it came to finishing the bows ( i would have loved… read more to see how dean gets his dye finishes done and his handles arrow shelf etc.)also there was a section about splicing showing a nice jig but no instruction on how to build it,that too would have been nice.definately worth the money though a gem of a dvd.
Good DVD...strange title
The title is poor for this DVD. Dean is really showing the viewer how he makes his bows, not shoot them. The information is great! I just wish he would have given a little bit more info on the final finishes. His are so beautiful. If you want to make a bamboo backed bow, this DVD will get you a long way down the road to success.
No, this video does not discuss Japanese bows. It discusses laminated straight, reflex/deflex and recurve bows.
No, Karl, this dvd doesn't cover the Japanese long bow. There are other resources available online pertinent to the Japanese bow. You might query Traditional Archery magazine for a starter.
No it doesn't but good read.
