Safari Tuff Split Finger Tab Reviews

Poor quality and cut wrong

Bernie

The tab was cut and sewn improperly. The tab would hit the nock every time upon release.

The plastic divider has no give.So it becomes painful to use.i could probably reshape to fit but for the price I paid for it why bother.

Best I've tried

After shooting a glove for the past 40 years, I decided to give a tab a try. I ordered 4 models from 3 Rivers, Black Widow, Bateman, Eichler, and the Safari Tuff split tab. Didn't like the Eichler tab at all. Bateman is very slick, but thin. Black Widow is very nice, comfortable, but makes a mark on my cheek upon release. The Safari Tuff is very comfortable, slick, great string read more feel, and perfect. My only issue is the parachute cord finger strap interferes with spacer that rubs my middle finger. If the finger strap was positioned back a bit it would alleviate this problem. I'm going to give this modification a try Best part is my fingers don't go numb with this tab like a glove, and I have not rubbing on my fingers. Really great tab. Ordering two more now as back-ups!

Best split finger tab I have ever used!

I started shooting bows with a glove and did so for years until a friend of mine told me he shot better with a tab. I tried one and I too shot better with a tab. I've tried many, from the calf hair type with rivets and the rubber finger spacer (that eventually falls out), to the cheap glued together 2 ply type. For me, any tab works better than a glove, no matter how much I wish read more the opposite were true. Gloves are "cool", all of my archery idols used them. I recently ordered an assortment of tabs from my favorite archery supplier (3Rivers of course) to find something better than the one I'm using now, it is about to fall apart. All of the tabs I got are very functional but this tab is by far the one that works the best for me. The finger spacer is comfortable to me and is firmly attached with screws. The cord adjustment is nice and allows for use over the thin gloves I like to wear on chilly mornings. I was so impressed I jumped on the computer to order a couple more to have back-ups and was disappointed to find the size I need backordered. Safari Tuff's website doesn't even list the split finger version under their products. I only hope these are still being made.

Works better than my glove

This tab works awesome. Smooth release of the string.

Possible Problem

The construction is top notch. The theory is sound, ie you have an extra layer of leather on the top of tab to consistently place the bowstring with each shot. You also have a cutout area for the modern arrow nocks of the carbon arrows. The problem I have personally, was the solid, grooved finger spacer. While comfortable at the beginning of the draw, the spacer "bites" into middle read more knuckle of my forefinger at full draw. I have a medium sized hand so not sure how this would work for a big fingered hand. May be able to take a file and round off the lip of the spacer. Since we our all built differently, this could be an isolated situation. Would suggest that you try in house if possible, before you decide.

My new favorite

I have 4 tabs. After trimming for proper fit, this has become my new favorite. It is thicker than 2 of the other tabs yet I can feel the string better than my thicker tab. I can shoot several hours with my 50# Martin Mamba and not have sore or numb fingers afterwards. I have no complaints whatsoever. Planning on picking up a couple more for backup.

Good quality, finger separator is too big

I really wanted to like this tab, and was eagerly awaiting its availability. I've always been very happy with every other Safari Tuff product I own, and the construction of this tab is quite good. However, the finger separator is much larger than I feel is necessary, and it is hard plastic, making it uncomfortable after a few shots. I much prefer a slimmer and softer separator, read more like the rubber one on the Bateman Bubba.

Safari Tuff on the fingers and wallet

This product was a major let down. First the leather backing for the fingers is too thin. Second the facing seems to be made out of cheap pleather and not real cordovan leather. And last is the hard plastic finger separator is too thick, it crushes your index and middle fingers together and with a fairly heavy bow it fills like someone is trying to break them. Probably should have read more made it out of rubber. Bottom line for what you pay for one of these tabs you can almost buy two archery mitts. Save your money and buy a mitt.
