Very high quality suit

Chris

Just received my suit. First impressions are that it is much better build quality than I was expecting. LOTS of material on this suit. It is pretty heavy (probably 5 or 6 pounds at least) but I'd rather that than have less material and a lot of gaps. Only 4 stars because I think getting the smell out of the burlap/jute will take a lot of work. Overall, given the amount of time read more and effort I would need to produce something like this, it is an absolute bargain. Although the mesh backing makes it quite breathable, I wouldn't want to use it in a hot climate but up here it will be great.

This has got to be the best purchase I ever made. Just do some trimming and some sect control and you will be all set.

First Review of any product

First review response of any product but I felt the need to write this one. Great construction and design. Sewed bow arm camo down and back as opposed to cutting, also did this with boonie hat where needed which worked well. Able to shoot longbow easily at base of tree in sitting /kneeling position. However, I used it last year with disappointing results. Washed garment with read more no scent products( you name them), carbon washed (dipped) garment twice as per you tube( great product btw) and let the UV rays try to breakdown the odor, plus full face camo paint (3 rivers),and got busted twice my smart does 60 -70 yds away! They stopped dead in their tracks and looked right toward my direction! Why, because no matter what I did I could not get the burlap petroleum smell out of the product. I know how to hunt terrain, minimize human form, predominant wind, thermal changes, back door access, etc etc. Sit around a camp fire and tell me if the wind doesn't shift even a little. Well that's all its gonna take when one of those fibers lands on a branch 50 yds. away. I also was extremely careful donning the garment as not to shed any fibers. Roll the garment up put it in a plastic bag for a transfer to base camp/ hunt site and the odor "recharges". The point is with all of the synthetic fabrics on the market and ripstop nettings why would Rancho Safari continue to use Burlap and jute? So I got small suture scissors and removed every piece of jute or burlap which lightened the garment and actually created light spaces and or places to seat natural foliage. I am glad of others success and do not doubt other reviews ( the same ones that sold me on the product), I just hope I have the same success now. I enjoy bare bones hunting in this world of gimmicks and machinery and look forward to disappearing in the woods.

Outstanding product

This is a quality American made product. The design covers all the bases. It's very comfortable to wear and light, not bulky. You will need to trim your bow arm so string will not contact it. I also trimmed the hat around the face opening. I hunt with glasses on and this face mask isn't restrictive at all. I've had deer pass right by me within feet of where I was standing without read more any idea that they weren't alone.

Ghillie Suit

I've been wanting this ghillie suit for awhile, and finally I got it. I've been ground hunting with this since I've got it. It's became very exciting for me, I've had deer about 5 feet from me, no big shooters yet but I'm waiting. Had to cut a little off my left sleeve so that it didn't get dangled into my bow strings and I also bought a long arm guard to help with that as well. read more It did have a smell, but a few earth scent dryer sheets helped with that. Very impressed with the out come, it's all about getting close.

I'm Impressed

Really impressed by the quality construction of this gillie suit. I have made my own in the past, and there is a lot of work and materials involved. This suit for the price is incredible. Very high quality, much better than I can make, and the result is an affordable, high quality piece of hunting gear that works. I cannot recommend more highly.

Best Ghillie out there

This is a very high quality US made product. I have tried making my own ghillie suit in the past, and can appreciate the work that goes into this product. The face mask part is very comfortable and does not slide on your face, the hat section is also very well made and adjustable. The whole suit contains straps that let you roll it up and carry it on your back. Very happy with this read more product, and having fun being invisible with all my new woodland friends.

Thank the Marines for this.

Longbow

I have three and they all are a little different. Two came with burlap and one without. Two have hats and one has a hood. I'm not sure why the difference but I though I ordered the same ones. It's a great suit but don't forget to add a little real vegetation for the ultimate concelment. Kick up some black dirt and sit down. The woods come alive like never before!

Exceeded expectations.

This is a well thought out piece of gear. It took about 20 minutes of trimming on my bow arm to get it perfect. It is all that I expected it to be and more...

WOW- top quality

I have been looking for a quality ghillie suit for some time. Am I glad I bought this one. It's worth the price! Heavy duty with lots of material and a very heavy backing. Openings on each side so you can reach inside to pockets on your inside clothing. Knit wrist cuffs. Only thing that looks a little light-weight is the zipper. Be careful not to get that caught in material read more as you zip it up. Hat and facemask are of equal quality. The facemask has an adjustment in the back to tighten it against the face, which is nice to get some of the bulk out so as to not catch the string. The hat has an adjustable cord to go under your chin, should you desire it. Beware to shoot a LOT with it on before going hunting. I use a short armguard way down to the wrist cuff and then a full-length one above and slightly overlapping the bottom one to keep the material away from the bowstring. On the hat, I used long paper-clips to clip up some of the material hanging in front of my face versus cutting it off. A little trimming here and there and it's working great. The face mask WILL affect the feel of your anchor, so again, practice thoroughly to be sure you have the kinks worked out. A SUPER product made in the U.S.A.!!!

So is this long coat 50% burlap and 50% cotton? If I order it and it isn't there better be no issues returning it seeing that one individual on here stated he received different ones....one 50/50 the other one from one material. What is the cam pattern

I pulled two of these from the shelf and both were marked as 50/ 6 years ago

I pulled two of these from the shelf and both were marked as 50/50 Cotton/Jute Burlap. The color is labeled as All Purpose Jeriflage and it does not state a more specific camo pattern. I also wear a medium/large in most clothing. I could wear a sweater, shirt, and long johns under this suit easily. It fits very loosely. I would never do that unless the temperatures were 20 degrees F or less. In warmer temperatures it feels like a down parka. That rules out all of September archery season and most of the late season, as well as spring turkeys here in the edge of the mountains of western North Carolina. I am talking about tree stand or blind hunting. During the spot and stalk hunting I used to do in Alaska you would still have to shed under layers. Bob Williams

I think that it will be fine with a jacket or with out. There is plenty of room. I do not know the dimensions. 3-Rivers should be able to provide those.

The suit is quite comfortable. It's a a bit marm kind of like wearing a light jacket.  It doesn't seem to snag on branches or collect briars.  I really love the suit.  Have not found any that I like better.  I have still hunted in it and sat in ground blinds.  The biggest problem is when the deer stop 10 feet from you and you can't turn towards them. Highly recommend.

It is hot. It may tend to snag more than standard clothing. My gripe is that it has a strong odor, like shoe polish. after washing it still smells like burlap. I prefer the bush in a bag poncho, although it is noisier than this product.

I do not find it to be hot. I have used it in warm weather and cold. It is like adding an extra layer of clothing. As far as branches and briars, I am sure that you could snag on any of these. I pack in the Shaggie suit and put in on for a ground setup after I get there. I do not use it to walk around and hunt.

I am not sure. I ordered an Extra Large since I am 6'8" tall. It has adequate sleeve length for me and it has plenty of room to be worn by itself or over bulkier clothing. I think that a large would be adequate for your needs.
