The Dakota Method to consistent accuracy is awesome!
I'm brand new to traditional archery. I purchased a Samick Journey 45lb that shoots High plains 6.5 grain carbon arrows at 202 fps. Which I thought was great but my accuracy was terrible, so I bought this DVD and watched it until it clicked and began to apply it and the accuracy began to come. I have become very consistent at a variety of distances. I find that I'm shooting as consistent… read more as the students on Youtube that Rick Welch taught. Nevertheless I plan on going to his school for two days of training. I feel like if I can get this good by a DVD what will happen when I have personal training to boot. If you are willing to apply what he teaches I'm sure you will improve greatly.
"Another great arrow in your quiver"
A great resource/point of view. The great Bruce Lee referred to learning everything about what your doing, keeping what works for you and throwing the rest away. At the very least, I feel that anyone could take something from this video.
You're buying an infomercial-mostly
I was rather disappointed with this video. I had heard that it was an advertisement but I never expected constant testimonials about Rick's school. There a very small amount of useful information in this video. It's mostly trying to get you to the school. The small tidbits of info Rick gives is quite useful but not very descript. If you have strong kinethetic intelligence and are… read more a visual learner then you may find a lot of value here. It's not useless but it should of been a free DVD in some archery package because actual content is very limited and $ is unreasonable. Video quality is poor too. I will keep it though and try to extract as much info from it as possible because Rick is great at what he does. 3rivers had this to my door quickly and is always a pleasure doing business with. Overall good resource but quite lacking for its pricepoint. It will leave you needing to go to his school to shoot this style well, which is the purpose of the video (overly obvious endorsements). If it was a $ dvd then I would have very few complaints.
Good dvd with good Practical advice
Good advice on "instinctive" type shooting and practice scenarios for traditional archers. Found the volume low. This volume three is more what I was expecting - real advice; I felt that the first two volumes were NOT that great; I have seen many Youtube video's with better quality. This one is the best of the three.
Not enough detail
While there are some good techniques offered, the level of detail covered could be much deeper. More close up shots and better audio would also help. About half the video features students shooting with the camera angle from behind the shooter. While this adds credibility to Rick's school (the shots are all good hits), it adds little value to the video's instruction.
Next best thing to being there
I used this video to prepare for Rick's school. It was the next best thing to the class itself. Now I use the video to review what I learned. I have used Rick's system for two years now. My 3-D scores have improved by 30 points.
It was very helpful.
was very informative. it helped me to find what works best for my way of shooting. im shooting alot better than before when i tried to copy everyone else now i take bits and pieces and apply them to my style of shooting and it is working great
I am glad that I bought this DVD.
Just follow Ricks instruction as he lays them out and keep going over it several times to catch things that you might have over looked every time you go thru the DVD. If you watch the slow motion shots real close there is a lot of information that rick is telling you to do. The information is broken down in easy to understand infofmation… read more for the beginner and someone that has been shooting for a long time.I have been shootins traditional for A long time and went to compound bows when they came out and now have went back to traditional archery and after doing it ricks way in one week I have improved over 100% percent, Thank you rick. Ican not think of any thing that is not great about it.
Not to bad
this video helped my shooting alot but the problem is that the movie has terribe quality and sometimes seems like it is skipping. but the info is great.
Infomercial
To me this is basically an infomercial for Rick's shooting school. There is some good info, but for $[$] dollars much more is expected. He basically tells you the DVD is just prep for his school. Sorry, but I'm disappointed.
