Have liked this book for providing good starter information
An okay place to start
If this were the first book I had looked at on bow making, I may feel otherwise. But after pouring over a friends' copy of the Bowyers Bible (I-III), this book leaves me grasping for more information. This book is a great primer to building traditional bows, however some of the methods and suggestions in the book strike a cognitive dissonance with the title. For instance, the… read more "Bow Strings" chapter is almost entirely a discussion of using dental floss as bow string. There's scarcely any information about natural cordage and animal derived bow string. At the end of reading the book, I didn't feel much more empowered to be able to build different kinds of primitive bows. I did appreciate how the book opened up with bow anatomy and glossary, something that the Bowyer's Bible didn't do a very good job of. There is also some good information sprinkled around like "fistmell" All in all, I'm looking for another primitive bow making book
