Requires regular maintenance
I used mine outside for a little less than a year, quickly deteriorated in areas behind the actual target. Arrows just pass through now like nothing is there. Get a rubber tarp instead of this and aim small.
Absolutely Awesome
I was sceptical that this backstop would be all it was said to be, I was wrong, the shield surpassed my expectations.
I would buy this again!!
I use it as a backstop for my targets as I live in town. It gives me peace of mind to know that my arrows won't go beyond The Shield.
Excellent backstop if you're basement shooting!
Using this backstop for a 15 yard basement range, protecting missed arrows from hitting a concrete wall. 4x6' size hangs behind a 22" square target. I've only shot one arrow into it and stopped it perfectly. Shooting apex field tips from #45 vintage Bear recurves. This is a beautifully made product and performs perfectly.
Excellent quality and functionality
As a backyard archer, I wanted a good backstop to keep any arrow that might have missed the target from impacting the stone wall that surrounds my property. The Shield functions quite well and exactly as described by the vendor. My only regret is that I did not purchase the optional frame that is available from 3Rivers.
Good target backer
Purchased the 4x6'. Probably larger than I needed, but the extra size is great when backing 3D targets. I shoot Traditional Archery so I can't comment on it's stopping abilities for hi velocity arrows. It stops mine just fine. It's much heavier than I expected; but is well built. Used it last fall in the yard, and through the winter in the basement. Thinking about getting the rack… read more for it. I cobbled one from PVC, but it didn't hold up. Iron conduit could work but probably wouldn't save over the rack. I wouldn't leave this out in the weather uncovered. It is heavy and bulky.
Perfect for home practice
I thought it was going to be way heavier, but not too bad to handle while hangin works well with 45 lb aND 55 lb recurve. Have had no pass through yet, net even much if any penetration. Hanging in the garage, on diy hanger. Love it.
Great for backyard shooting
Use this in the backyard to backstop 3D targets. Have the 4x6 and 3x5 - good balance of size/coverage and cost.
Excellent Accessory
I am shooting a Mathews Halon 32 6 with a 28.5" draw length and 70# draw weight. My arrows are on the light side (@ 391 grains). I bought this to reduce any lost arrows when practicing long distances (70+ yards out). I have tried this at shorter distances to test its construction and it performs exactly as advertised. It catches target pass-thru's and the occasional errant shot.… read more The size I purchased was 3' X 4'. I built a stand using 1" PVC Schedule 40 piping and it works great. I don't think it is stiff enough to stand by itself and not fall over when a breeze hits it. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to save on lost arrows.
Metal Stand for 3x4 Shield
The metal stand offered by 3Rivers only fits the larger (4x6) Shield backstop. So I used a 4-foot metal firewood rack which cost about $35. I used wooden uprights attached with u-bolts to the two front uprights, with a large screw-eye at the top of each upright. The Shield hangs from a metal rod slipped through its loops and then through both screw eyes. It works great.
This product is very flexible , about like a heavy blanket , you will have no problem rolling it up .
It is kind of flexible but it is thick so it may not roll up all that well. It would not damage the backstop.
The ones I measured were about 22" apart with about 3" of material past the last loop on either side.
no it dsoes not come in 10' x 8' , only 3' x 4' and 4' x 6' . We do carry a bear paw back stop in 10' x 10' , https://www.3riversarchery.com/bearpaw-dura-backstop-netting.html .
As long as your bow does not shoot over 370 fps you should be good.especially if you double it

The spacing is 20 inches between the two loops
It would not work with a compound with that weight.
Yes
No little bit fast
37# 51'' x 25'' x 7''
Definitely weather resistant. I have left mine out for more than a year and it is holding up well.
It will stop a recurve or long bow at 70# , I would not shoot a compound over 350 F.P.S .
