Excellent book. Great reference for building your own bow. Compilation of seven different bowyers experiences.
A Classic
I had purchased volumes 2,3, and 4 used on Amazon, but Volume 1 was rare and expensive even used. I was delighted to find it available here - almost too good to be true, but there it was. Delivered promptly, I'm delighted.

Great Book for New Bow Builders
When I started to learn how to build bows, I read all I could from the internet,( and I learned a lot). After reading just the first two chapters, I learned more then I ever thought was possible. I have more confidence after reading this book then the months I spent reading off the internet. Volume one takes you from tree to finished bow with an understanding that a child can understand.… read more If you are interested in learning how to build a bow with absolute accuracy then I would recommend this book for you. I will buy the other three volumes soon.
Bowyer Bible indeed...
I'm a beginner bowyer (not sure if I can call myself that yet), but this seems completely packed with all the information you need to know about selecting and cutting a tree, to finishing a bow, and all the geometric/mathematical ways that bows work in between. Have only read a couple chapters so far. Already almost possitive I will be buying the last 3 volumes. New or advanced… read more bowyers can make use of the information in these. I usually get bored of reading, but the amount of information and interesting bits in this just makes it hard to stop reading it. When I do manage to put it down, I want to pick it up and start reading more.
WOW,A truly complete reference
Very good book any boyer should have on his shelf. I plan to add the series of boyer bibles to my collection.
Great book!!!
I read this book and was not disappointed. After reading I was ready to build a bow for myself. The only down falls on the book is it really doesn't cover the basics for us idiots. Basics meaning what side the back of the bow is. It tells you how to make it and covers all that but after reading I found myself asking well when holding the bow what side is what that actually was.… read more The only down fall I found and the only issue I had with it. Short of that though it covers about everything you need to know from chopping down the tree and seasoning the wood to what kind of wood and tillering the bow. Splices are covered, backings are covered, and even different types of homemade glues are covered. Great book. Lots of how-to's.
Excellent
I really enjoy reading this book I've read it at least twice, I also own the second book in the series and plan on getting the 3rd & 4th books in the future, though I have not made any bows as of yet I plan on doing so in the neer future. I would recommend this book for anyone looking into building ther own bows.
This would be a great book to jump start the beginning bow builder. The other volumes will go into more detail and different types of bows.
I would recommend that you get a movie. Rattlestick with Gary Davis is the best bow building movie that we have.
