If you'd like to spice up your feather fletching choices look no further! Can't wait for more camo colors to come out! If that happens I don't know if i would ever go back to barred.

So I bought 50 parabolic feathers, three vanes times 12 arrows, figured I was good. Forgot that one out of every three is a different color. Is this a big deal? Why is the odd color important? I know the odd one goes to my left when I shoot, for some

You do not need to have an odd colored feather. It is just perso 11 years ago

You do not need to have an odd colored feather. It is just personal preference. The odd color is meant to help identify which way to put the arrow on the string. Most nocks will have some sort of a locator to allow you to find the same side each time by feel.

It is really a matter of preference. The odd color vane/feather 11 years ago

It is really a matter of preference. The odd color vane/feather is simply a visual point of reference for positioning your arrow correctly and consistently on the rest. I generally shoot a compound bow with the "nock" vane facing up whereas shooting my traditional the "nock"vane faces to the left away from the site window (for right-handed shooters). Notice when you nock an arrow with the colored vanes. The nock vane is facing outward, the other two vanes are on the top and bottom. The bottom vane is the only one making contact with the rest as the arrow is released. If you were to place the colored vane to the inside facing the rest, the vane would cause the arrow to kick out away from the bow as the arrow passes the site window. If you are shooting wood arrows and decide to you want fletching all of the same color, you could build the arrows with nocks that have position indicators on them. If you are using carbon, best bet is to look each time to ensure your nock vane is facing outwards. Hope this helps
