I would buy this product again
I started making cedar arrows a couple years ago and after many trial and errors this was by far the best paint that I used. Low odor, easy clean up and easy prep. If you run into any questions, true north arrows costumer service is second to non!
My first time using this paint.
I first tried Free-Dipping this paint without diluting. I got a crackled finish. Ugh, lots of sanding. I then diluted with water and got a much better finish.
So-So
I have used this twice without diluting it. It takes more than 3 coats to cover raw wood shafting. I am used to a one or possibly and second dip paint cover.
Not so great
I thought I'd give this a try as it sounded easier to use. The only thing good about it is the water clean up. Coverage is poor, takes multiple coats, and it does not come out glossy as it advertises. Would not use it again.
Great Crown Paint
I've been using the *other* brand of crown dip paint for years. However, when I ran out of my favorite color, I ordered True North Crown Paint just to give it a shot. Long story short, I wont be going back to the *other* brand. The color is true and rich, it covers the wood shafts I use well and is very consistent between dippings. If it has sat for a while I would recommend stirring… read more it up as any other crowning paint. The paint on the first set of arrows that I used this on still looks bright and vibrant. I shoot in all conditions, snow, sleet, rain, sun and everything in between and so far the paint has held up.
Easy and Odorless
This crown dip covers very well and provids a great base for the creasting. I have used it over all types of wood arrow sealers with great results. All the glues I have tried so far (Fletch-Tite Platinum and Duco)have worked very well with this paint. The paint has also proven to be very durable. Give it a try.
You should not need more than one coat to get a solid color finish.
Dear Tom, I used the red color of True North and met with satisfactory results. I did put a coat of primer on the arrows first, but achieved a good color, however my arrow shafts are composed of limber pine and port orford. I dip my arrows four or five times though. I would highly advise being careful when adding water to thin the mixture. It doesn't take a lot and you might even try a dip without adding water to see what results. I have had no problems with paint chipping or fading so far. William of Wyoming
There are too many unforeseen variables to be able to answer this question. Some paints viscosity differs, as does shaft length, width and type of wood, as some woods absorb colors better than others.
These will come in a quantity of 1. There are options for different colors but each color is just one paint.
Yes the fletching tape can be used with this product.

Yes, this paint can be covered with the Gasket Lacquer but I would recommend to use this cap paint on the out side of the Gasket Lacquer because when you go to seal over it it may smear the paint off. Also being water based the shaft would soak up a lot of paint before it would look good.
Sorry, I cannot help: I do not use gasket Lacquer. I have gone to acrylic finishes and paints......
Yes, it can be used over top of gasket lacquer as a cap dip.
To many arrow finishes out there to say if it is going to be compatible with another product or not. I can say that it is an Acrylic that cleans and thins with water and would expect just about every glue and finish to work with it.
You will want to use either the Duco or the Arrowmate NPV. Yes, this product is not flammable so we can ship it to Canada.
fletch tite platinum is what I use at TRUE NORTH ARROWS LLC- and YES it can be shipped to Canada Joe @ TRUE NORTH ARROWS.
