Woodsman® Blood Groove Series 3-Blade Screw-In Broadheads Reviews

Great Penetration

TradLab

This head has been a top performer in the Lab. That performance has extended itself into the field. I have taken several Hogs with a 44lb recurve using this head and the penetration has been great.

Is there any other?

Unbelievably tough, and the penetration is second to none. Was fortunate enough to get my first buck with a traditional bow this year. Thankful I was using these, great blood and he only traveled about 40 yards. This broadheads are for life.

The best broadhead there is, period.

I initially switched to the Bloodgrooves from the Sprotsman's Elite do to the whistling effect from the holes in the Elites. The Elites are not a bad broadhead at all, I just wanted something quieter seeming I am using a recurve. Last night I shot a large doe about 10 feet away from me with these broadheads, and let me tell you, it was like a hot knife through butter. What I was read more really impressed with was the fact there was no damage whatsoever to the broadhead. It felt as sharp as they come from the factory. I have only ever had 2 issues with these broadheads, first being they are difficult to sharpen on a diamond stone because of the angle of the edge and the pyramid point, and secondly, I recently shot a through my block and the broadhead was lodged about 1/2 way into the tree. As I began to pull it out, the threaded stem broke off inside my insert. These broadheads are as tough as you can get and they do come with a lifetime warranty. I am not too upset, it could just be an anomaly and I would not let one bad experience steer me away. They are more expensive, but like everything else in life... you get what you pay for.

I have been shooting field archery for a few years, and now transitioning to bow hunting with my trad recurve. For my 125g field points, I use offset helical fletchings. Are these broad heads best paired with offset or helical, or would straight fletche

You can use these with any fletching style. It will not matter i 4 years ago

You can use these with any fletching style. It will not matter if you use a helical or a straight fletch.

I cannot speak to straight fletching as I build all my arrows wi 4 years ago

I cannot speak to straight fletching as I build all my arrows with three 5" helical fletch. I have experienced perfect arrow flight with my Woodsman blood groove three-blade broadheads with this setup. Additionally my broadhead arrows shoot the same as my G-5 SGH stump shooters and field points so no aiming adjustments are necessary when I switch to broadheads. Good luck and good shooting. Matt

I am no expert and still a novice when it comes to Traditional A 4 years ago

I am no expert and still a novice when it comes to Traditional Archery. My arrows have a right helical and these broadheads fly true. I do not shoot at long distance (nothing greater than 20 yards) so I am not sure how they would fly beyond that range.

I have always gotten better flight with fixed blades heads, with 4 years ago

I have always gotten better flight with fixed blades heads, with a helical fletch offset as far as I can get it while still maintaining as much fletch surface area as possible to the shaft. I want the base of the fletch to sit flat, with maximum offset.

I use the helical on my arrows with all my broad heads. The woodsmen broad head will fly fine for you. They do take some work to sharpen but if can do it anyone else can too. PS I am assuming that you've already bare shaft your arrows.

All my traditional bow hunting with Woodsman broadheads has been 4 years ago

All my traditional bow hunting with Woodsman broadheads has been done with three right wing 5 feathers helical and a few degrees of offset. This will stabilize the biggest cut on contact heads.

I had read an article previously that recommended using straight 4 years ago

I had read an article previously that recommended using straight fletchings and lining those up with the 3 blades for best performance; however, I cannot say I noticed a big difference in accuracy. Many claim helical are the best, but I have used straight for many years and no complaints. In one week, it will be the first time I use this combo of straight fletchings and the Woodsman Blood Groove. Anxious to see how they perform.

Personally, I like helical. I think they fly the best out of my 4 years ago
