Great broadheads!
I've been using the original Woodsman for ten years and have taken several deer with them using a 46# Black Widow recurve. They fly straight, provide excellent penetration and they're very durable. They're a breeze to sharpen on a bench grinder using a fine stone and jeweler's rouge. I learned the technique from a seminar by Monty Browning at a traditional archery show in Michigan… read more several years. Believe me you can put a razor sharp, hollow ground edge on these heads using Monty's technique in just a few minutes.
Good luck making these sharp!!!
The grind on both packs I got were very uneven on the back of the broadhead out of the box and not very sharp. It took me a very long time to get them decently sharp but the back of most of them wont sharpen due to such an uneven angle cut at factory. Very disappointed
Bad
These are in no way easy to sharpen. If you want to spend an hour or more for one head then by all means these are for you.
125 grains of spectacular performance
When I recovered the 125 grain Woodsman glue-on broadhead I was amazed that it was completely intact and undamaged considering all the work it did. Using my 50# recurve, I sent the arrow at a 130 lb doe that was 7 yards away. The arrow entered high in the rib cage traveled down through the lungs and out of the rib cage on the other side. It wasn't done yet. The arrow continued… read more into the inside of the upper front leg. The arrow finally stopped with the tip of the broadhead protruding through the skin on the outside of the leg. The deer dropped immediately, double lung shot and leg crippled. I use Woodsman broadheads straight from the package without any additional sharpening since the deer in my area are not very big.
Standard "go to" broadhead..
Been my go to BH for many years, used them from pigs to elk. The lighter draw weight, the bigger the game... The better this BH is to use...
The New Classic
If you want a good, solid three blade head at good value, this one is hard to beat. Mounts true onto broadhead adapters. Very easy to sharpen with a good file, diamond stones and leather strop.
Good looking head
Sharpens easily mounted perfectly straight. Set up on Wapiti tapered shafts fetched with left wing wild turkey feathers. If they're as deadly as they look, I'll be in the chips. Couldn't rate 5 star until I shoot a deer or hawg with them. Hope that won't be long.
Great price, but need sharpening
Good quality 125gr. triple blade hunting tip. Well constructed. My only beef is that they needed sharpening out of the package as they did not come razor sharp.
Made in America
Building arrows. Razor sharp. Will stick you.
Outstanding 3-blade
With just a chainsaw raker file I can get one of these shaving sharp in 5 minutes or less. This is a great head.
Yes, the blades are straighter making it easier to sharpen as it doesn't take as much effort to get the blades even.
Yes, these would still work on a 5/16 ths. shaft. A couple other heads that would work a little better of matching up to a 5/16 ths OD are listed in the links below. http://www.3riversarchery.com/Broadheads+Points+2-Blade+Glue-On+Zwickey+Black+Diamond+_c57_s266_p297_i4221_product.html http://www.3riversarchery.com/Broadheads+Points+2-Blade+Glue-On+Howard+Hill+_c57_s266_p297_i4216X_product.html http://www.3riversarchery.com/Broadheads+Points+3-Blade+Glue-On+MA-3S+_c57_s267_p297_i4952_product.html
The Woodsman Original Series broadhead has a ferrule diameter of 11/32".
Tred Barta uses the Woodsman broadheads on most of his hunts. Only time he isn't using them is when he has a stone point on his arrows. They leave a big wound channel for the best blood trails and have unsurpassed penetration for a 3-blade head. Easy to sharpen and tough! Best of luck on your next hunt!
I just stuck 2 more pigs with my Woodsman points on 60-65 spine arrows. The points are the best. Mine have all held up threw multiple pigs not to mention all the misses. The points will bend but just don't break!
We do not that weight for a glue on has been discontinued
They are about 15-16 years old. They came in the market around 2001
Yes, the blades are straighter making it easier to sharpen as it doesn't take as much effort to get the blades even.
They come in a 6 pack
They are sold by the six pack.
They come 6 to a package. Sent from my iPhone
My package contained six, and they are very sharp.
Yes they will.
These or the Elite's will preform good from a 120# bow as long as you match the Broadhead to the Field point weight. You will also want to make sure that your arrows are properly spined to your bow.
You will need to get the adapters in 11/32" to fit the Woodsman Glue-On Broadheads.
