I purchased this bow for my daughter for her birthday, as she had been wanting to practice with me. Based on my prior good experience with Three Rivers and the great reviews this bow had, I decided to order this bow. The bow looked nice, but upon stringing for the first time, I noticed an irregular curve of the upper limb near the riser, which I mistakenly assumed was a harmless… read more anomaly of a handmade bow of such low poundage. In the year since ordering, the bow's been strung three times (with a stringer), stored in conditioned space, and probably only a dozen arrows loosed from it in total. It was after stringing the bow the third time that I noticed that the fiberglass was delaminating on the back of the bow at the upper limb and riser. I reached out to customer service, but was told that this bow was just out of warranty and that there wasn't anything they would offer aside from free shipping on a new bow (which was already being offered on all new bow purchases anyway). I spent hard earned money on what should be a premium quality bow, but got a lemon. I understand that the occasional defect is impossible to avoid. However, not standing behind their product, a bow that appears to have been crafted in-house by Three Rivers, is surprising from an outfit with such a strong reputation. My daughter is sad and I'm not happy at all.
Great little bow
Awesome little bow, purchased for my 4.5 year old daughter. She loves it. I showed a chap who is a professional bowyer and he was very impressed with the bow
Perfect bow for the young beginner
Brought this bow for my 8 year old daughter she loves it. It will do her for many years to come. She can't pull it to full draw yet but with practice and as she gets older she will be able to. Great beginners bow.
Great Bow
great little bow for my 4 year old. Quality is exceptional. And the bow is beautiful.
Super Cute and It Works. A Real Bow!
We love it.
Great Bow for my daughter
Wanted to get my daughter a real "Indian bow" as she called it. She absolutely loves it and the finish is great. She feels special with it and it has a lot more power than the cheap bow made for kids. She is 7 right now.
Beautiful little bow
Very nice little bow. I purchased the "squirt" version for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas. She of course loves it, but from my perspective, it's very well made! really pretty to look at with the pink/gray diamondwood and zebra wood limbs. The antler tip nocks are an especially nice touch. worth the price, it's quality.
Great Bow for my little one!
I bought this for my 4 year old daugther who wanted to lose the wheels on the bow like Dad. Its durable, looks great and pink (most important for her!),
Pilgrim Squirt for 4yr old
I bought the Pilgrim Squirt for my 4yr old and she loves it. Easy for her to draw and to begin working on the fundementals. Of course the pink color helps out as well.
Yes, Replacement Bow String for Pilgrim Longbows Item Number: 2244X
I see no problem on the string!! Just give 3Rivers a call and they will fix you right up with a new one. Sent from my iPhone
My 5 and a half year old is about as big as a 6 year old (or a small 7 year old). She shoots the Squirt model. I see her shooting it for at least another year.
I think I would go with the smaller bow first. I think they are 10-12# and the larger bow is 20-22#. I have two girls. My five yr old is shooting smaller one and my eight yr old the bigger one after working her way up. If its too hard to draw it hurts and they don't have fun.
I have two daughters, nine and about to turn six. We have the pilgrim and the squirt, the squirt is way better for our younger daughter. She is small for her age as well. They are nice bows!
My daughter got the squirt for her 6th birthday, she is also petite. She loves her bow and was making excellent shots her first day with no prior experience. She received good technique training and being a clean slate had no bad habits to break. I highly recommend the squirt for short arms.
Our 5 yr. Old Granddaughter is 37" tall and we purchased the "squirt". It fits her well and she loves shooting it a the range or 3d's that we visit.
I ordered the "squirt" size for my daughter when she was six. She is now seven and has taken more of a stretch than her friends (tall for her age) and she still uses the "squirt". It has lasted well despite being used by her friends who are unfamiliar with archery. Hope this helps.
I would go with the Squirt for her age. My daughter is a very tall 5.5 year old, and I think the Pilgrim would be a bit too much to handle. I hope that helps. Sent from my iPhone
Yes, the dexterity of the bow refers to the hand that is used to pull back the string. For the most part a RH person will need a RH bow and a LH person will need a LH bow.
The majority of the time a right handed person shoots a right handed bow; but the dominant eye sometimes can throw a monkey wrench in "cogs". If you are left eye dominant you should try to shoot a left handed bow. If you are new to shooting and do not have muscle memory yet, it usually is not a problem. To determine which eye is dominant pick an object 10-30 ft away and with both eyes open point a finger at it- keep focusing on it and close your left eye if you are still pointing on it you should be right eye dominant,=right handed bow. If the object seems to shift to the right you are left eye dominant. Some folks shoot right handed- left eye successfully= so it can be done. Hope this helps
Draw is the distance between the bow and her anchor when she is at full draw. I recommend getting the larger version for her age range.
This bow will be a little small for her. I recommend that you go with the Matrix, Mohegan, or Polaris. Something in the 24# @ 26" draw range. http://www.3riversarchery.com/Youth+Archery+Bows_c16_s94_p0_thumb.html
Yes, I recommend you go with something around 54" to 58". That will be smoother for her to draw.
The Squirt should be 4 1/2" to 5 1/2" and the Pilgrim should be 6 1/4" to 7 1/4".
My own girl is 2 1/2" right now (as tall as a 4 year old though) and I plan on getting her a pink Pilgrim Squirt (if I do not build her a bow that is). I believe you will be very happy with the Pilgrim Squirt.
We recommend the Pilgrim Longbow for ages 6-16.
Anywhere from about 7-16. Before that, get the squirt, after that, get a full sized bow.
