Bearpaw Self Nock Jig Reviews

Great product

I am a primitive archer and this Bearpaw Self Nock Jig makes hand cutting nocks easy and accurate, even with cane shafts. It can even be used on the point end if you are using trade points or stone points.

I've been waiting for a jig like this. By far a must have for any traditional archer!

A must for those looking for the perfect Nock.

I'm so glad to finally see this product by a US vendor. I've owned two of these over the last 5 years, and acquired them overseas. Its a very handy tool, and will make 100's of arrows. Just don't get too carried away with your cutting, since product is aluminum it will create a larger nock space over time.

Yes you could use this jig to make a slot for a primitive broadhead. Depending on the head you are using you may have to widen the slot after you remove the jig.

In answer to your question, yes. It will work. I have only used the gig for self nocks, but it will work for heads as well. Overall it's a great tool.

It can be used for steel trade points. I have used it for these 5 years ago

It can be used for steel trade points. I have used it for these and it works well. For stone points all you can do with it is get the original slot centered and cut to the needed depth. From there you have to file the stone contours in by hand.

Yes to both. I use it to make reinforced and self nocks for my Native Regalia arrows. The bear paw jig will accommodate up to three hacksaw blades depending on the width desired.

Hi,   I expect it will, as long as the diameter of the bamboo shaft does not exceed 11/32.  The Jig uses an internal clamping collar so make sure you do not over tighten the collar or it will crush the cane.   Always remember to reinforce the shaft just below the self nock either using linen/rawhide/etc thread if you have not cut the additional horn reinforcing slot or using rawhide/horn/hardwood slither.   As the cane has a hollow core I recon you would need to experiment with either gluing or filling the nock end with a dowel insert first then cutting the nock.   Happy fletching
