E.W. Bateman Long Leather Arm Guard Reviews

Excellent quality but a bit longer than needed

Pacific Archer

One of the best arm guard's I've owned! Only issue was that it's extremely long! Don't think I'll ever need that much coverage and its length would pinch the wrist or inner elbow so I trimmed off about two inches... Perfect now!

Good arm guard, better customized.

This guard a bit long on my forearm but easy to cut to my desired size. Also, rubber tubing used was flimsy and snapped. After modifications - cutting to size, replacing rubber with a nylon sport lace ... and dying the leather black, this guard is a great fit, looks excellent, and really protects the arm for that shot where form and focus go out the window.

Ok

The leather is nice and heavy duty. I don't feel great about the rubber used for strapping. It seems flimsy, and it pulls my arm hairs when donning and doffing. I think nylon shock cord would be better.

Nice guard

Nice guard, however even with my long arms this thing is way too long. I used a box cutter and took off about 2 and a half inches. With the cut it fits perfectly.

It works just fine

There's not much to say about it. It has really good protection, to where you can't tell if you've been slapped by the string. Very adjustable for all types of arms. This looks like it'll last a lifetime as long as the rubber tubes don't dry rot over time.

Read the LARGE print

I say read the LARGE print because in the title it says "long", and it is. Too long for me. That does not detract from the quality. This is a good, thick, pliable arm guard. I have ZERO issues with the quality. Since that is the case, instead of sending it back because it was too long, I simply cut it shorter. Problem solved. Don't buy this if you have Hobbit arms like me.

Love it

If you're like me you like to shoot. I have bows at home and at work. Even have one in the truck. I have three of these arm guards. I modified mine by punching vent holes in the parts of the guard that won't get hit by the string with a 45 ACP case. Great product, great price. What's not to like!?

Perfect size

Love this armguard. It covers my forearm almost completely, and is comfortable and easy to get on and adjust.

Nice armguard

Heavy but flexible leather and rubber tube adjustable cord.

Just the right length for me.

I like this arm guard but the leather could be a wee bit thicker.

I am in need of a long arm guard that goes past my elbow, is this guard meant to do this?

Sorry, This armguard only covers the forearm, but is quality-made and works very well. Mike B

This arm guard goes from the wrist to the elbow. It covers the whole forearm. I replaced the factory rubber tubing with stretchy cord to prevent  my arm hairs from being pulled out when taking off the guard. If you're going to do this, just make sure you pay attention to how the tubing feeds through the holes when you thread it with stretchy cord. It's not very heavy leather, but for the price it works just fine. I've been using the arm guard since summer 2017 and it has taken shape to my forearm. I don't know if I'd buy it again because I've used other leather arm guards that are thicker leather and absorb more string slap. But, for under $20, it serves its purpose. I killed a mature doe on opening day of archery season 2017 using my Osage self bow while wearing this arm guard. I doubt there is a correlation between the arm guard and the kill, but maybe having that specific arm guard brought all the pieces together! ?Good hunting!

It does not go beyond the elbow, but it provides very good cover 6 years ago

It does not go beyond the elbow, but it provides very good coverage of the forearm. I'm very happy with it. ###- Please type your reply above this line -### Can you answer Stephanie's question about this product? E.W. This arm guard does not extend above the elbow and is too stiff 6 years ago

This arm guard does not extend above the elbow and is too stiff to function if you try it. My guess is your elbow needs to be turned so it is more upright. That will take it out of the line of the string. I like my arm guard because I shoot both recurve and a longbow with varying brace heights and the brace covers all of the contact points no matter which one I am shooting.   Sent from Mail for Windows 10
