Boyfriend very happy with B-Day Gift for Flint Napping
My boyfriend has been trying out flint knapping and loves his new tools. He knows he isn't great at it but with this kit its helping him get practice.
My husband loved it.
My husband loves the flaker tool, and the billet. He kind of wished the pieces of rock were a little better sized but he did love the different types. Also, a better description of the material in the box would be great.
Great little kit
Great kit but the directions are alittle sucky and hard to understand.
Great product for the price!
Bought this kit for my 10 year old son, he loved it! It has everything you need to get started. He has already made several arrowheads and each one gets better. His only complaint is the pressure flaker wears quickly.
Great little kit for getting started.
Want to start out saying this kit is a really good starter kit, had everything i needed and a little more. Great Kit for practice and general purpose, i hade a knife and a few arrow points for bow fishing and was very pleased, i can get an edge on them but not a good one just yet but i have plently to get me along!
Great starter kit
the kit has great tools and a good selection of stones but the instructions are alittle hard to understand for a begennier
Knapping Kit
Could use more illustrations in instructions, esp. how to hold stone. I looked for youtube videos of the method. I can shape the stone, but no sharp edge yet.
Perfect starter kit
Great starter kit all you need to get knapping

Yes, the aluminum takes the place of antler. Actually, antler is very durable, but more difficult to use. I think copper is better.

It comes with good instructions, but it would be easyier for some people if they could watch a DVD. Below is a link to a great book and DVD that will short the learning period. http://www.3riversarchery.com/Books+DVD%27s+Primitive+The+Art+of+Flint+Knapping_c42_s18_p224_i4066_product.html http://www.3riversarchery.com/Books+DVD%27s+How-To+Art+of+Flint+Knapping+DVD_c42_s33_p57_i3090-1_product.html
There is no guarantee on the size of the pieces. They come in preportioned bags. Normally there will be at least one larger piece and then a variety of smaller pieces in the package. You should be able to get at least one knife sized piece.
It comes with a few different types of stone to practice on.
The Flint Knapping Kit includes Heat Treated Novaculite.
