I've bought this product three times
I've shot deer and turkey with the same arrow and no issues
Love these arrows
I love the ballistic collar and the slightly smaller shaft is quite elegant. Super straight with 4" shields.
Yes
Virtually indestructible. Paired with a quality single bevel broadhead, I shot straight through both shoulders on a 200 lb. hog. Tune these shafts to your particular set up, pair with quality sharp broadheads and you are ready to go without breaking the bank
UNBREAKABLE
the arrow shot through 1/2" plywood pallet WET PALLET but still..Hit a 9"rock directly behind pallet.no damage to shaft. it actually bent the 175Gr field point up around 1/16 inch.I was amazed!!shooting #55 slickstick longbow>>and a great weight gpi.
Update to initial review - Easton G nocks OK
If you are having trouble with the optional bushings and nocks, use some bowstring wax on the stem of the nocks before inserting them into the bushings. This fixed the issues with the Easton G nocks. Also you can use Teflon tape while inserting the bushings.
Great arrows with smaller diameter than standard Goldtip
Great arrows and good price. Make sure you add an extra half inch to your regular length if you decidee to use the ballistic collars. Note that if you change nock to Accu Bushing system make sure you get the right nocks (Easton G nocks get stuck half-way and do not work)
Great product
Awesome arrows and tough!
Gold Tip is manufactured in Mexico.
The Gold TIp Pierce 400 spine 7.6 GPI, Gold Trad Classic and Trad Classic XT 400 spine 11.4 GPI, Gold tip trad and trad XT 400 spine 9.3, Gold TIp Warrior 400 spine 8.2 GPI. These would be the Gold Tip 400 spines and GPI.
The OD will vary by spine but they are considered a 9/32 shaft with a 5/16 Ballistic collar. They will come loose unless you request them to be installed. The GPI is only referring to the arrow shaft itself no components.
The outside diameter of the shaft is .270. The ballistic collars and inserts are in fact shipped loose. The inserts are steel and the same diameter of the shafts if you do not use the ballistic collars 17'64 is the closest point diameter.. The inserts weigh 72 grains and the ballistic collars weigh 13 grains. Note,,, the ballistic collars have an outside diameter of .312 which takes a 5/16 point. The ballistic collar increases the diameter of the shaft so if you choose to use them you need to cut the shafts 1/2 inch longer to accommodate the difference in diameter so the collar does not hit against your rest.
Gpi is for shaft only. Ballistic collars and inserts are shipped loose. I've been hunting with these shafts for four or five years, I haven't broke an arrow yet. Awesome arrows
OD is determined by the spine weight you want. 340 spine is a .286" OD, 400 spine has a .282" OD, 500 spine has a .276" OD. GPI is the arrow shaft only. Not including components. Components are shipped in their own small bag along with the arrows. -Nate
It will depend on where your tune is now, but as it sits closer to center on the bow it tends to want a stiffer spine. Though if you can try a test kit first it would be best.
Unfortunately we do not have a test kit for the classic XT shafts.
I don't believe there is.
Not that I know of. They are a nice, inexpensive shaft that is virtually identical in spine to other GT shafts. If you have other GT shafts, you should be able to make your own bare shafting kit if you think bare shafting is important. William M. Gustavson Gustavsonlaw.com
Depending on the Spine they range from 10-15 grains.
12.8gr according to the GT website
No they will be loose in the package.
Your inserts should be separate so that you can cut the shafts to your preferred length and then install the inserts.
You tell them whether or not to install the inserts.
No
No, the inserts will come packaged on the side
You can always request the arrows to be uncut without inserts installed.
We add the 1/2" due to the collar that goes on this shaft. That collar slips over the end of the shaft and you would want to go a 1/2" longer so that collar does not come on the rest and interfere with the shot.
Ther is a 1/2" collar that slips over the end of the arrow shaft. The 1/2" you add to your arrow is to make sure the collar does not touch your riser at full draw. Sent from my U.S. Cellular® Smartphone
Yes the weight sticks out 1/2" passed the shaft then the collar goes over it. Great arrows! Sent from my iPhone
Shane, I add a little extra length to ensure the ballistic collar does not get into the sight window. My draw has the ballistic collar extending just past the arrow shelf on the far side of the bow. good luck--Larry
These shafts are 9.1 GPI and are 9/32 diameter. They come with the basaltic collar which is why they take a 5/16 point.
According to the Gold Tip website the outer diameter is 0.22" and the weight is 9.1 grains per inch. 0.22" is very small diameter, 14/64". Sent from my iPhone
600's are 9.1 gpi and they are the "skinny" ones.
With the outcert you will use a 5/16 point.
If you used the collars, then yes 5/16 is correct. Otherwise use 9/32" Sent from my iPhone
5/16 should work well
