Best Material for Primitive Style Lashings

I use this to lash hand knapped flint and obsidian points to the shafts of primitve style hunting arrows.. Once dried it extremely strong and almost impossible to loosen - unless of course you soak it in water.. But in my experience of hunting with primitve arrowheads lashed to the arrow shaft with this same gut hafting the arrowhead itself has broken off before the lashing failed read more or the bond of the point to the shaft loosened..

I used it to lace a leather cartridge carrier to my 45-70, that stuff is strong. I pulled hard and it never even came close to letting go

The instructions say to soak the gut hafting material in lukewarm water until desired flexibility is reached. It should take one hour to fully reconstitute the dried material.

Looking for a product to shrink-wrap on a tanged tool head. If I soaked the gut hafting, would it become stretchy, then shrink and harden once dried?

This will shrink a little but not that much. This will work for 12 years ago
