What a great product
I used it in combination with the gut to hold a knife blade on a black bears jawbone that I made.
Not as shown
This is not Pitch, it is beeswax. Came as ~1 oz of greeish wax with flecks of resin in it. The image and discription are very misleading. It's about as good as using candle wax to haft your points. Very disappointed.
Awsome
i use it makking striings, and attaching flehes and knives
PITCH
THIS PITCH WORKS GREAT.YOU COULD CALL THIS THE ORIGINAL HOT GLUE.WARM IT UP AND IT BECOMES SOFT. FILE A SLOT IN THE SHAFT TO ACCEPT THE END OF THE ARROW TIP OR SPEAR TIP.FIT THE POINT INTO THE SLOT.THEN TIE IT IN PLACE WITH SINEW OR ARTIFICIAL SINEW.THEN SPREAD SOME PITCH ONTO THE JOINT.NOW JUST TAKE YOUR FINGERS AND PRESS THE PITCH AROUND THE JOINT.IT IS EASY TO MOULD AROUND THE… read more JOINT WITH YOUR THUMB.IT WILL HOLD THE POINT ON REMARKABLE WELL.THIS IS A LOT EASIER THAN GOING IN THE FOREST AND COLLECTING PINE PITCH OR GETTING BIRCH BARK AND SWEATING THE PITCH OUT OF IT.I'M SURE OUR ANCESTORS WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED A TIN OF THIS PITCH RATHER THAN ALL THE WORK AND TIME OF MAKING IT. WHEN YOU GET YOUR ARROWS AND SPEAR MADE JUST GO OVER THE RIDGE.I HEAR THERE IS A HERD OF MASTADON OVER THERE. HAVE FUN GARE
Works fine
works just as I thought
Not pure pitch. This is a beeswax mix
This is not pure "pitch black"', but instead seems like 50% beeswax ( soft, lghter, smells beeswax)
As of now our vendor does not have this in larger quantities.
I've never done that many points at one time, I believe three containers should cover it.
I don't believe there are other ingredients but the the maker of the pitch will not reveal his "secrets".
Use low heat to soften the Pine Pitch and then you can apply by hand with a psc. of cloth or brush.
You will only need to use a little when hafting points to keep them in place until you start to wrap it with sinew. This is not severely flammable but it could catch fire. If you were to try to light the arrow the speed of the arrow will blow the flam out.
About 2 ounces.
Yes, this needs a low heat to soften in order to use it.
Yes but don't put it over a fire or bad things will happen.
