No, I would not recomend buying this arm guard.
I hunted with a long bow a few years ago and decided to go back to it. I bought all new equipment hoping to buy only what I could use effectively. The design of this arm guard is not what I need. Looks good only.
Simple and comfy.
Great quality and simple design. Very adjustable and stable when on.
Just works perfectly
Simple and easy to use. Great, timeless design better than any armguards made using modern materials.
Great armgaurd
Good proudly made in USA. I shoot left handed and it doesn't look upside down. Few different ways of lacing up so it can be as comfortable as anyomone needs. Lacing sting may will wear out over time but is an easy replacement. I have large and long arms this gaurd gives me the best protection.
Arm guard
All I can say is that it's a great arm guard! I guess I have a medium size arm and it fits just perfect. Not to fast to put on but, you're supposed to put it on before you shoot right? Who cares about that! It's a lil ridged when you get it but it will get broken in after use, and you can adjust to your comfort. It is made to last! Looks good and I'm very happy with this product… read more and I truly believe you will too.
Great so far
I've been shooting for over a year now, and never wore a bracer (I wanted the bow to "let me know" when I was making a mistake). Now that I make fewer mistakes and don't get string slap that often, I decided to finally get a good bracer. I wanted one that looked traditional, but could still fit my skinny forearm. The adjust-ability of this bracer along with the look is what sold… read more me. Sure, it's not super fast to put on or take off, but unless that is just super important to you I wouldn't worry about it. Great bracer for the money.
Quality Basic Armguard
This armguard is sturdy and provides good coverage. Note, however, that it is not the quickest to put on and off, like some of the armguards that are designed with less hooks and/or an elastic lacing. If you want something to slip on and off a lot, get one of them. If you want something secure to put on and leave on, this is it.
Good-un
This armguard is a little stiff at first, but loosens up with use. It seemed a little long for me at first, but with some trimming around the uper inside half it is now quite comfortable. Very well constructed
Sturdy and Traditional
I purchased the arm guard since I wanted something functional that would also look traditional for the ocassional Ren Faire. This is a great choice for that. The leather construction is a good mix of sturdy durability while retaining enough flexibility. It laces up with a leather cord similar to some boots and looks nice. The only potential downside is that while not uncomfortable,… read more it feels a bit too much like wearing leather armor.
Standard Traditional Armguard
The guard itself is excellent. The problem with it is the raw hide binding, which makes it difficult to put on. I replaced the raw hide with elasticized material and it works great.
It is 6" at the narrowest part and 8" at the widest part.
You might want to consider a guard that laces & covers the whole forearm. That way, you don't have to worry about the width. Pete
No, it's made from one piece of leather.
This arm guard is single layer, thick (approx. 1/16"), well constructed and long lasting. It may be a little stiff at first but the more you shoot, the more it conforms to your arm and becomes quite comfortable. I met a fellow at a shoot who also had one and he ad done some beautiful decoration on it with his leather tools.
I normally just wrap the loose ends around one of the laced up pieces of leather and then tuck it in.
I just wrap it around the last lace across my forearm and weave it in and out a couple times. No problems with it loosening.
The best selling armguards are the brown. You could dye the leather to black with our Fiebings Water based stain.
I hold the arm guard between my body and my forearm to keep it in place. Then I lace it up. It is just like lacing a boot, you just hit every hook.
The Standard Traditional Armguard is perfect for left or right hand shooters as hooks are on both sides so it never looks "upside down." All of our leather armguards are made in the USA. If that was to ever change we would specify in the description as "imported."
