The word Tomahawk comes from the old Algonquian word tamahack, meaning "what is used in cutting." People are still cutting with Tomahawks today, and the Cold Steel Trail Hawk is one of the best, combining the classic design of a traditional Tomahawk with the power and precision of modern forging techniques. Modeled after the early frontier Tomahawks, the Trail Hawk can do it all. It's an excellent chopper and has a functional hammer poll with a hardened face so you can drive nails, hammer in stakes, and smash or crush just about anything. Best of all it's extremely lightweight and compact so it's a cinch to tuck under your belt or lash it to a pack or quiver. Drop Forged 1055 Carbon Steel head with American Hickory handle. Really good tomahawk
I gave this five stars because of what you get for the price. Left as is, you can sharpen it and have a handy tool for light chopping and splitting of kindling. My advice: take the set screw out. When you do this you now have a head that can be utilized in all manner of ways. You can even carry the head and impovize a handle in the bush. If you buy this understanding it's a tomahawk and not an axe or a hatchet, and use it as intended, you will not be disappointed. Where I live it suits all my needs from fire prep to building improvised shelters. I highly recommend it.
An Excellent Product
A no frills functional product at a reasonable price. Sharpens easily with just a file. Plenty of uses around home or camp. Only wish a sheath was offered as an accessory.
Great Hawk
Just a great hawk! Need to cut the handle down for throwing but it's better left long for working in camp.
I'm afraid not. They have yet to fill our April order at this time.
We would no longer have that sheath.
