Great Product
I bought this kit for my son to use after I out it together. Simple instructions where easy to read and follow. Add your own embellishments for that customer touch.
Pretty good quiver; useless instructions
This comes as a kit, and the instructions are absolutely useless. Might as well just throw them away and figure it out yourself. Once it's together, though, it's a pretty good quiver. It holds a lot of arrows, and seems pretty sturdy. It can be hard to grab the last couple of arrows, though, mostly because the opening is so large and it tends to slide low. Adjusting the strap might… read more fix that, but I haven't tried yet. So it's a good quiver, but there is some room for improvement.
Quiver good, instructions terrible
Quiver seems to be pretty sturdy. Leather is a good thickness, and plenty of lacing is provided. I'll be using it mostly for target shooting, so I have no concerns about the bottom piece being pierced by the points. I agree with others that the strap is a bit short--another couple of inches would help. The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review is the worthless instructions.… read more Here are mine: 1) Locate instructions; 2) Throw them away; 3) Figure it out yourself, because that's what you're going to end up doing anyway.
Confusing instructions
The quiver itself is nice and sturdy and seems to be made from good leather. But, the instructions flat out sucked. They were vague, disjointed, and confusing. It had 2 pictures, and seemed to skip around. I basically just kind of used my best judgement when assembling it. Also, the shoulder/back strap should be a little longer. I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be… read more pretty cool.
As advertised
Always wanted to try a back quiver and this was a economical way to do so. The quiver is fairly easy to assemble even though the directions stink. Other than the strap being a little short, the quiver is fine. Oh, did I mention the directions stink.
Back quiver kit
I used this kit as a starting point for making my own back quiver for hunting. Assembled as it comes it would be GREAT for target shooting. But I cut the size in HALF to roll out a smaller tube shape instead of the larger oval. This holds 6 home made arrows with broadheads that makes it perfect for hunting. The soft case keeps the arrows from rattling around as they would if this… read more were a hard case to carry them in. Better yet, I have half the leather left over to make a second back quiver.
Good quiver for the range.
Good quiver for target shooting. a little shallow, so not good for hunting, but a good quiver for spending the afternoon at the range.
Quality at a good price
Very good over all, good materials ,easy to assemble.. I never used a back quiver and didn't want to invest hundreds of dollars only to end up not using it, this was a good way to get started with a minimal investment. My thought was that if I liked it I would up grade some day , now that I have used it I'm liking it and the quality is so good I'm not sure their is a need to upgrade.… read more The only thing I didn't like was the strap is too short I'm 48 chest and I needed to add several inches of material to allow proper fit for me and with a coat and heavy clothes it will need a little more. That being said I would buy it again .
Easy to Assemble
Easy to assemble for first-timers. Instructions may be a bit confusing but workable to complete assembly without assistance (just use common sense). Nice looking, good quality materials. If you are creative, you can add your own personal touch during assembly. Not really comfortable with the strap, it could be a bit longer but easily corrected. As a first time owner/user of back… read more quivers, I really like this product.
Worth the money
I assembled the quiver with the lacing provided and it didn't look quite right although it was functional. I broke it back down and re-assembled it with artificial sinew and it looks much better now. My only criticism is that the shoulder strap is too short for me.
To keep broadheads from dulling I prefer to put a thin layer of foam in the bottom and stick my heads in it. I would use the Shearling for filler to keep the arrows from making noise.
The reason the tips dull is due to the constant hitting on the bottom and the blades hitting each other. Your suggestion sounds like it would work, and would also help to quiet the arrows. I added rabbit fur to the cuff and bottom (and inside sides) to help keep the shafts quiet, but getting the leather wet and applying pressure to cause it to fold and stay in that shape to keep the shafts from moving too much is a good idea too. Having quite a few arrows at a time (since the quiver has a large capacity) would also help. Any soft material would work really, but a fur would give it a good look.
No, not thick enough for carving or stamping IMHO
The bottom leather piece will be more of an oval shape.
No it does not you just push the lacing through the holes with your fingers.
No it didn't however it wasn't very difficult.
No needle is needed. It will push through with your finger
20 1/2" deep X 6'' opening
This kit includes the leather to make the quiver and the leather lace only.
The kit incliudes all the leather, including the lacing, as well as a sheet of instructions. The shoulder strap can be fastened for wearing on either shoulder. With care the lace can be inserted so that the light edges contrast with the dark leather making a very nice look on the finished quiver. Even though I'd never made anything from leather before, the quiver was done in not time at all and is a quiver to be proud of.
With this quiver you can just reach back and grab your arrow. If you have to push the quiver up top get the arrow you will want to tighten the strap so that the quiver sits more secure on your back.
Since the strap is fastened to the top of the quiver, I've had no problem reaching over my shoulder to pull out an arrow. The kit is not difficult to craft even if you take pains to align all the stitches neatly for consistent color matching of the surfaces of the raw hide lacing and it is very nice looking when finished. Yes, this quiver can be used by a lefty. Some of the other quivers you will need to specify left or right handed.
You can use broad heads with this quiver because it is reinforced at the bottom. You may want to consider useing sheaths on your broad heads because they are going to move around in the bottom causeing them to dull.
