Steel Force PhatHead 4-Blade Screw-In Broadheads Reviews

Shoot well but built very poorly

Bought two packs for hunting season this year as they were one of the few points I could find in 145g. They came in dull, and you can't pull them apart to sharpen easily without a special tool. Of the six heads one weighed 145, four weighed 150 and one weighed 155g. One of the 150's is so loose if you move the arrow in your hand you can hear it rattle. Of the four I have on my bow read more (I didn't have time to order better before season, unfortunately) only one does not have any noise/vibration when tapped against anything. Yes, they fly well, but they're poorly built resulting in a loud and inconsistent product. Wish I'd just stuck with the 40 +- year old Fred bear razor heads I found in my shed when we moved in.

Excellent Heads!

I bought some steelforce broadheads 4 or 5 years ago and the quality just wasn't there, they were not built well. But these are very well made heads, they have improved their quality tremendously. Shooting them out of a compound or recurve they fly beautifully, are sharp, and with the steel ferrule in the 145gr are pretty much bullet proof. Even the 125's are much better made now read more as well. I'm done looking!

Not as described or pictured. Just received and examined. The packaging claims to be 145 grain but the ferrule is shiny and deep purple. The main blades are 1 1/8 x 1 1/8. I do not have a scale so not sure on the weight. The packaging shows 100 and 125 grain and labels placed on it claiming to be 145 grain. So, it makes one wonder. This is probably an indication of quality read more control by Steel Force. Will call 3R for advice.

Excellent and Deadly

They fly true and go deep. I got a complete pass through on a medium sized pig. Broke through two ribs on entrance leaving thumb sized hole. Exited breaking a rib and sliced a huge gash I could fit three fingers in. Pig ran 50 yards or less pumping blood. Would definitely recommend them. I am definitely ordering more.

Tough Broadheads

These are thick-bladed. They are thicker than some pocket knives. They shoot consistent with my field tips, and can take a beating. I am happy with them, but I did have to touch up the points on all of them.

The SPARTAN of Broadheads!

May not be flashy, not main stream popular, not backed by thousands of dollars of publicity hype, but these are the best broadheads I've used in 30 years. When I first purchased these, I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical of the size. I'd bought into all the fancy footwork of marketing and corporate influence; big blades, large cutting surface, RAZOR SHARP. Well, these little read more beauties are not big, their cutting surface is relatively small in comparison to other competitors, their design is not flashy and takes on more of an industrial look, but brother, these are nothing short of serious! Sharp out of the box, and oh by the way, a lifetime resharpening option; they fly like a dart. I shoot both a 55 lb and 65 lb recurve with 145 grain field points. Out of both bows, this 145 grain broadhead flew the same as my field points EVERY time; deadly accurate. As for cutting surface, sure it's smaller in comparison to big name brands, but don't be fooled. It has superior bone crushing ability and when placed appropriately it does the job. I've had nothing but success with these broadheads. If you are looking for a serious, no frills, no nonsense, professional broadhead, look no further.

The Best

These are the best penetrating, best flying, and toughest broadheads I've found. I have used them for a couple of years with my compound and they have never failed me, now I'm using them with my recurve and lov'em even more. The 145 gr has a steel ferrule which makes these even more indestructible!! Great Buy!!

I always like to try new broadheads and try to find the best there is. I'm done looking. There shoot true as the north star and are super sharp. Yesterday I shot a buck with this head, I took the bleeder blades out, and it was the BEST blood trail I have ever had. I will continue to use these as long as they make them. Plus they will resharpen the main blade for fee. You can't read more beat that with a stick!!!!

Can you swap main blades from the 125 grain phat head to the 145 grain phat head to get the 1 1/8 inch cutting diameter? I really like these heads but was hoping the 145 grainer had at least a 1 1/8 inch cut.

The bleeder blades are not the wide part of the blade , the main blade is where the width is so changing the bleeders won't increase the cutting width .

The 145 grain has a 1 1/32" cutting diameter. The 125 grain has a 1 1/8" cutting diameter. The 145 grain uses the same blades as the 100 grain. It just has a steel ferrule. That is why the 125 grain is larger.

Steel, and it works. I shot a bear with this head two weeks ago in New Brunswick using my compound and an arrow that weighed 450 grs. including the phat head. In the back ribs through the lungs through the heart and out in front of the shoulder. The arrow broke off leaving only 3 inches in the bear head looked new except for the blood on it.

Steel Force Phathead broadheads do have replacement blades. We currently do not stock them but can put in a special order for you. We are looking at carrying the replacement parts in the future but until then we can take special orders. Please give our warehouse a call at 866-587-9501 and our inventory manager will put the order in for you. As for experience shooting, I am afraid I have not shot them. The Phathead has a great reputation in the broadhead arena and we have have plenty of requests for them so I would say they do well, but I have not personally shot them.

The main blade is NOT supposed to be a replaceable blade, and I don't think SteelForce even offers a replacement for it. The bleeders DO have replacements.
