Excellent Product
I neede to add string grooves in an old longbow that had lost its plastic ends many years ago. The file made short work of cutting new grooves to add a bowstring.
Does the job well
I used the file to cut the string grooves on a laminated longbow that I built using a 3 Rivers blank. The file cut through the wood, fiberglass and phenolic overlays easily. Since the file is very thin, it was hard to apply the correct pressure without having a handle on the file. Fortunately, I had a handle from another file that fit.
Great for the price!
Can't beat this file. Perfect size for nock grooves.
Works excellent for what it is designed
i've got several of these. if used for the right purpose then it can't be beat. as a previous commenter had wrote, used it for the self nock on arrows. it is not for that, it is for the bow nocks, the grooves at the tip of the bow limbs for the string to rest in. works flawless if you do your part.
Not happy with diameter
bought this to cut self nocks in arrow shafts. works great but the nock it cuts is to wide. I like the nock to grab the string a tiny bit. will try to figure something else out for self nocks. I'm shooting dacron flem twist. If anyone has a tool/method for cutting self nocks that fit will have a fit like the plastic classic nocks I would love to know what it is. other than… read more that I'm hppy with the tool nothing wrong with it. I just should have bought something smaller diameter but hey live and learn
Does what its for
It files nocks quickly however mine bent and snapped where it meets the handle. Im not sure if I was pushing down on it too hard or if its just not very durable
Does what it does
Not much you can say, its a file... I make my nocks with it and it works...
You can use this file for self nocks. The diameter will be just a little bigger than a classic index nock.
I have used this file and feel it works very well. I have not had any problems with it.
This file is to file string nocks in to the tips of a bow. A tighter fit nock would be the snap on nock.
You can use this file for self nocks. The diameter will be just a little bigger than a classic index nock.
