These look so real on my bow
Very easy to install. Looks great
Better than Expected
I'm making my first attempt at building a board long bow. I'm using fiberglass tape as a backer to the oak limbs and wanted to cover the laminated tape. I haven't got to that point yet but this cloth rattlesnake pattern is going to be perfect.
Looks good stick to wood easy, glass not so.
Used tire bond 3 on 2 bows, peaked off glass too easy on one other seems to stick well. Redid bad one with 30 minute epoxy, need to thin with denatured alcohol, which I did not do and a pain to get all tiny air bubble out. Need to use a wall paper seam roller? I think by thinning the epoxy will help bleed the air through the material. Titebond 3 on wood is great!
Was skeptical @ first. Wouldn't go back not if I could
Didn't think cloth was gonna resemble snake skin @ all. Tight bond 3'd it to my take down recurve, n I bet most City people can't tell it's not actually real. I'm sold
Good product
I first tried to bond this to fiberglass-covered limbs with Titebond 3, which did NOT work at all. Then used epoxy, but couldn't get wrinkles out set in by T3.
Expensive for all it is but great results
I looked at a couple of videos and put this on a hickory board bow I built from a kit. It was easy to instal and it really looks great. The price was high for a strip of cloth but the results were outstanding.
Way over priced for what it really is
The snakes skin pattern on this product is okay but the colors were very muted. Maybe they stand out more once its been applied to the bow, but I didntthink it would. Beyond that, it just a strip of cotton material that probably cost well under a dollar to make. Decided to buy a few yards of silk for a few bucks instead and wait 'til I'm ready for real snake skin backing. Prettier than linen! Looks great!
The copperhead pattern is great but a little bit bright or too colorful. i used pre-stained poly over it to add brown and the completed bow looks like a peice of history! This is as described and is a snake patterrn printed on cloth, it is not a thick rawhide or sinew backingand is not intended to perform as such. I do think that it is a little over priced!
Great product for the money!
I put the Copperhead skin on an Osage bow and at first I was disappointed at the color fresh out of the package. But once I sealed the bow with three coat of Minwax Pecan Stain Polyurethane I was real pleased with the results. See for yourself! Since I ordered the first Copperhead I have ordered the Rattle Snake and I am ordering another Copperhead today.
SNAKE SKIN
After several coats of Thunderbird Epoxy the skin looks better than the real thing
I would wait at least 24 hours to allow that to completely dry.
The shins should darken with a sealer like tru-oil , the skins with the Barge cement should peel off and you should be able to clean it with some asatone
Yes, they can be installed over the Tung oil. You may want to rough the finish up slightly for a better hold though.
You will want to put the barge cement on both the limbs and skins , one tube will be plenty .

It is more aesthetic than anything.
You could use these for that but I cannot guarantee that they will last long on a belt with the wear and tear.

Each Snakeskin comes in single 72" x 2" strips.

You would tiller the bow before putting the artificial snake skin on the back.
Hi there,The artificial snake skin has to be applied as the last step of your bow building process.RegardsDeniswww.merlinbows.com
Yes you can use true oil for finishing bows.
Well, actually I don't know. As the skin will probably be too long for your bow, take a small piece of it to check if it works. I think it could be possible. RegardsDenis Merlin Archery SwitzerlandDenis Droz www.merlinbows.com
It comes at 72 inch long by 2 inches wide.
