My first string material, and I made some excellent strings. Fast, quiet, and just the colors I was looking for.

Always reliable

One of the easiest materials to work with for string making. Strand thickness is small and therefore requires substantial padding on bowstring loops with Dacron. Makes remarkably good bowstrings which last a long time. Very compatible with Halo serving material.

BCY D97 String Material

In a word- Great! D97 is some kind of wonderful. I picked this up under the recommendation of my bowyer. I originally used a D97 string with my custom longbow, but ran into a minor string nock issue that cut through the loop on the upper limb end. No worries, I've got B-50 Dacron, so I made a replacement. What a world of difference! The B50 is reliable as a back up or for older read more bows, but the handshock and vibration of the B50 was immediately noticeable. I got online and went to 3Rivers the next day to place an order for some D97. The only thing about my order was that I ordered tan and red, and while the tan is a sweet dark tan color, the red, when bundled equally with the tan, looks more pink than red. No worries though. I took two bundles of 5 strands of tan, added a single strand of red to each and got busy twisting. Sweet looking results and definitely a pleasure to shoot with. Nearly zip for initial stretch, durability offering the peace of mind of going into the woods without a backup string, and plenty of zip for putting arrows where they need to go. If you're on the prowl to pick up some new bowstring material, give it a sho- you won't be disappointed.

Great stuff

You really can't go wrong with this stuff. I'm a recreational archer and hunter and mostly shoot longbows and glass bows I've built myself. I use D97 mostly in a 14-16 strand flemish twist configuration and I get a good string with VERY little creep and a smooth break-in period. I normally just shoot the string 50 times and my string is a stretched as it's going to be then I read more serve it up and put a nock-point on and I'm good.

Great material

Tried my hand at stringmaking, just for fun and to save some money. After a few youtube videos, I made my first d97 flemish twist string, and I gotta say, it turned out great! And it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Plus, it was fun! I bought the tan and black spools. Saves me money and I can customize the strand count. Will never buy a pre-made string again! I have read more a 55# recurve with b50 dacron, and a 50# longbow with the D97. The lighter longbow now shoots arrows about 2 to 4 feet per second faster than the recurve!

Great string material!
