Two 1/4" x 20 thread brass inserts. Same riser inserts found on most Bear Archery Recurve bows. Many riser mounted bow quivers use the 1/4" x 20 riser inserts. For installing you will need a 5/16" drill bit. Sold by the pair. ...read more

Not what I expected
I expected 1/4"x20 threads. THese had no threads and the (smooth)inner diameter was much larger than 1/4"x20. I did not bother to install them.
Easy to install!
I installed these insert in less than 30 minutes. I followed the advice of the other reviewers. I added them to a Samick Sage bow to install a Great Northern side mount bow quiver. I installed them with a padded C-clamp and they pressed right in to the holes I drilled.
Quility product. Easy to install
Retro fitted an old Bear bow quiver to a vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum. Marked out hole locations with an awl, drilled holes with a hand held drill and installed inserts by squeezing into the bow riser between jaws of a padded vise. ( A padded C clamp would work, too.) Attached quiver with appropriate hex head bolts and washers. Whole process took 20 minutes.Very tight, no wiggle.… read more Just like the factory job. Will do it again on another old Bear bow.
Thanks 3rivers
I installed these on my Bear Kodiak. It was very simple to do. I used the same measurements [insert to insert] on my Kodiak that were on my Bear Grizzly. This way I can use my Bear quiver on either bow without adjusting quiver each time. P.S. Use just a little wood glue on sides of the inserts that contact the wood.
Yes they are compatible.
Yes the Kwikee air quiver will fit into these inserts.
You can use any drill bit and you would only need to go as deep as the inserts are wide.
I don't remember the size drill bit needed. The package should indicate, or you can measure the diameter. Drill a test hole in scrap stock to make sure you have a good fit before attempting the installation. I highly recommend using a drill press, and "square" the riser up perfectly to it before drilling. It's almost impossible to get a straight/perpendicular hole with a hand-held drill. A Forstner drill bit it is best. A standard drill bit may lift the finish and even the wood around the hole. Mount the inserts perfectly flush or just a tad proud, i.e., above the surface of the riser. This is important. If you mount the inserts below the riser wood surface, there's a good chance they will pull out, particularly if you tighten the mounting screws very tightly. Your hole can be deeper than the insert, but be sure not so deep as it may come out the other side. My preference is for as shallow a hole as necessaary to accommodate the insert. Keep in mind, too, the length screw/bolt you use to fasten your quiver to the bow. If it's too long, it will bottom out and pull the insert out of the riser, often lifting a lot of wood with it. Good luck.
No, these inserts are for mount a quiver or other accessory to the outside of the riser. I do not have any inserts that will allow you to install a plunger or elevated rest.
Yes, you would instal these inserts in your bow and you could then attach the AMS Reel. Instead of drilling holes you could also use the AMS Traditional Mount Bracket item number 5548.
You will need to use a 5/16 drill bit to install these inserts.
They do not come with bolts. They allow you to bolt on a quiver, fishing reel, or other accesory to your bow. The thread size is 1/4".
These inserts do not come with bolts and washers. I used existing bolts from another bow and don't know exact size. Take an insert & bracket to a hardware store and fit proper size bolt and washer into insert. Make sure the bolts are not longer than the insert is deep plus thickness of bracket you are attaching.
