Slick as a cat's nose
I have been using this product this product for the last 40 years. Being a being a traditional Archer and and shooting off the shelf, comma this product never failed me.
Slick and quiet, easy install
Bought this with a feather rest to re vamp an old 70'-72' Bear Grizzly. Easy to install. Bow is noticeably more quiet.
Calf Hair Shoots Fair
Self-Adhesive plate was easy to install on my two recurve bows (One- a 50-year old Ben Pearson and the other-a 30-year old Bear Takedown). Coupled with a dense hair rest, the arrow's release is virtually inaudible. The accuracy is consistent, and as I chronographed the bows with both the hair rests and with previous "finger" rests, I can attest there was no measurable change in… read more arrow velocity off the rest. I had used these rests for many years before, but had migrated to other designs in the 80's and 90's, following the technical trends. Now I'm glad to be back to something simple that really works. The calf hair is nicely trimmed, and the grain of the hair lays properly, in line with the travel of the arrow.
Calf hair plate
Seems to work fine on my martin hunter recurve.
Friction-free
I purchased one of these rests to replace the plastic side plate that comes as part of the Bear set I like the Bear rest, but the plastic side plate shows a lot of wear from fewer than one hundred shots. I suspect that this is rom the carbon shafts I've been shooting lately; I think they generate a bit of heat when sliding over the plastic side plate. The calf hair rest doesn't… read more show any wear so far, and I think it's a bit thinner than the Bear side plate, too, making my bow just a little more center shot. I like it enough that I ordered a spare to keep on hand, just in case.
I'd buy this again.
Appears authentic, similar to original equipment and that is what I was wanting.
Foam backing is to thick
This product does the job but is a little thick for my taste adds about a 1/16th' th side plate area
Slick Plate
I use the calf hair plate flat on the riser. I believe the arrow leaves the bow quicker and smoother than leather.
Excellent
Everything I thought it would be! Prefect size and great adhesive backing.
Wish it was Thicker...
Wish hair was thicker...
You will want to order based off of your draw hand so if you draw with your right hand you will want to order a right handed rest and plate.
The term "left hand' or 'right hand' refers to the hand that draws the string. So a right hand bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right; a left handed bow is the exact opposite. Your description indicates you shoot a right hand bow, In reference to the arrow plate, this is important because based upon the left- or right- hand bow, the window ( where the arrow rests ) is on different sides of the bow and the plate must be cut so that the hair lays facing forward ( with the arrow path). If you're a right handed shooter you will grip the bow with your left hand and pull the string back with your right hand. If this is the case for you, you would order the right handed version. Hope that helps.
Right hand would be the drawing hand. Bow in left hand equals right handed draw.
