Fred Bear designed the Super Mag in 1966 for the bowhunter who travels in the brush and those who hunt from treestands. The Bear Super Mag is a compact 48" hunting bow that delivers serious performance. Easy to maneuver in any bow hunting condition and hard hitting on big game. Not recommended for draw lengths over 28" as you will experience stacking (feels like hitting a wall when drawing past a certain length) and serious finger pinch (hurts your accuracy and fingers). ...read more

Excellent classic hunting bow!
Short, lightweight, no stacking at my 29.5" draw. I own several vintage Bear Supermag 48's and the new ones are just as good, no QC issues in my experience. Don't dry fire or use lightweight arrows... it's a hunting bow, perfectfor the treestand or blind. Bear has a great warranty so purchase without worry. I would buy this again
I like short bows and this new Bear super mag is a good bow. The bow was easy to tune and very smooth to draw. I have an older Super Mag and it is a lot heavier and has wider limbs plus the grip is deeper and more like a high wrist. The new one has a grip like a medium wrist and is more open between the grip and window. The older one rides on my index finger knuckle and after… read more a while of shooting will start to brother me, not the new one.
Do not purchase if your draw length is over 28"
I haven't even owned this bow for 2 years, and I drew it back and the limb snapped at the base of the riser. I have a 30" draw length, and never felt the bow stack. It was purchased new from 3 Rivers Archery, and has only been strung/unstrung properly, using a stringer. It has a 50# draw weight, and I have only shot 500 grain arrows through it. I am a loyal customer of Bear archery… read more products, but I believe there are some quality control issues in Florida. I would not advise purchasing this bow if you have a draw length greater than 28".
Superb
It's amazingly short but can handle my 28" draw without stacking and causing stress fractures in the limbs. Will be great in the swamp coastal thickets I hunt where briars / stickers make it almost impenetrable. The other surprising attribute is this little bow shoots as hard and accurately as my other high end longbows.
Very nice compact bow.
It's a Bear so you can't go wrong!
I would recommend this to a friend
Actually lighter that I expected. Made this purchase to replace a kodiak mag I learned to hunt with many years ago. I may buy a kodiak yet and probably would if the color choices of old were available. Grayling green not a bad color . Just prefer a more natural finish. Won't make a difference in performance . Shooting everyday and enjoying it very much. Not as good as I was 40 years… read more ago but like anything takes practice. This bow beautifully finished.
Great bow, excellent customer service
This is a great little bow, not for everyone by any means. It is however exactly what I was wanting in a new bow.
Fast but fickle little Bow
This bow is much faster than my Montana and old Grizzly. It took a lot stiffer arrow than my other 50 pound bows. I find the bow real easy to torque so I have to hold it much softer than my other bows. I had a difficult time tuning this thing. I finally had to put a weather rest on it and that did the trick (It's the only bow that I don't shoot off the shelf). The rest kept the… read more quills from cutting my hand. I really like this bow and it will zip an arrow. However, keep in mind you have to have solid form or this sassy little thing will not hit the mark. I have a 26.5 draw so there was no stacking or finger pinch issue for me. It's maybe not the best bow for a beginner such as a Grizzly would be. It is very small and light, not the brute, workhorse as my Montana, but that's what I was after.
Love it!
Took a bit to get used to shooting such a lite bow but I love it now. Great fun to shoot. Accurate. Would buy it again??
Awesome bow
Hunt pretty regularly with it. Actually popped a squirrel in the head the first day I got it lol. Read a LOT of bad reviews in forums online etc. But I have zero complaints. Most of them were whining about inaccuracy and the heightened string angle squeezing their wee little fingers. A few hours in the backyard every weekend and I dont even notice it anymore. Compact. Powerful.… read more Wonderfully constructed. I love this bow.
Yes you can email to are info@3 RiversArchery.com and ask for details on how to do it.
No. Just know that for every inch past 28 you are adding 2.5 lbs onto the pull weight of the bow.
No, the Super Mag 48" is too short of a bow to safely handle a 31" draw length. You risk the string coming off the bow tips.
We offer a 30 day return window from when you receive it. If you want to send it back in like new condition you will only be out shipping costs.
I have one and I have a bow quiver and string silencers and that is about need .
Yes the new ones are fast flight compatible .
Great Question!!!!! YES!!!
You should chose a right hand bow , that means you hold the bow with your left hand and pull the string with your right hand.
These do not have bushings for a sight.
Yes they would be the 2020 model.
She will lose 2-3# per inch she is ahead of 28". So she will be at least 8# light she would have to get a 50# to be around 40# at her draw length.
