Bear got it right!
I have been shooting a Bear T/D since the 70's, this is a "home run"
Very poor quality
The limb to riser fit was way off and required personal work for use
New Bear riser
with 50 lbs limbs and my draw of 26 3/4 inches shoots great for hunting.
I would not purchase again
The rubber handle is held in place with one piece of double-stick tape on both sides of the magnesium handle. It's loose, poor fitting, and is not what I was expecting from Bear Archery or 3 Rivers. The top limb latch holds the upper limb very loosely when unstrung. I wonder how much 'play' there will be when I release the string (I haven't tried that yet). Once again, not very… read more impressive.
Bear should have made these years ago!
I didn't need this one but boy am I glad I got it! I have been searching for a decent vintage A Mag riser for years, gave up and bought something else because nice vintage Mags can go for a lot more than this new one. Got the green, a black kick back GN riser mount quiver, 50th Ann. limbs and it is SWEET! Definitely will be my go to hunting bow next season. Very grateful Bear… read more released these. Easy to tune with adjustable strike plate and a generous shelf. Finish seems durable, limbs fit right in. I got #1s for a 56" bow. The limbs were marked 38# on B and 40# on A, not what I ordered (selection was for 40# B and 42# A) but they scaled 43# at 28" and I'm happy. Right where I wanted them to be. This riser was everything I'd hoped it to be. One item to note, the grip. It's a softer material than I expected and is supposed to be held on by two small strips double sided tape. Mine would not stay on. I took off the factory tape and put a strip of gorilla two sided tape on the back strap (narrow side under palm) just below where the curve of the shelf begins to near where the grip ends and it has worked great, no more falling or twisting off in hand. Hope they offer the #2 and 3 grips in a harder plastic that snaps on like the old vintage ones.
Absolutely incredible
After set up and tune. I was blown away. I love this bow.

Hunting and 3D
Looks good and shoots great!
This has already became my hunting bow for the upcoming season after 1 day of shooting. Extremely happy with this riser and how it shoots.
Its past center but adjustable for fine tuning .
This riser weighs 1.95 lbs. Depending on the type of wood used on a wood riser that weight can vary between 1lb 8oz to 2.5lb.
For a takedown recurve I suggest a 7.5" to 8" brace height. I also go 4" less then bow length, so an A riser with #3 limbs is a 60" bow. A 56" string should give you proper brace height.
So far Bear is only making them in an A riser .
At this time we have not been told that they will be making replacement grips for this riser.
Bear has not given us a time frame yet on these.
We are expecting them to come in the early part of 2021.
I believe this will be a right hand only riser.
