Great material
Used this material to replace a worn down calf hair rest and strike plate. The fur is very soft, but seems like it will hold up well compared to the calf hair. I used double sided tape, but ended up having to use a little bit of glue to keep the edges down due to the radiused shelf. Will definitely use again.
Just what I was looking for
I've been looking for this material for ages! I've been around the block a few tomes with all the new tech rests and one thing I have noticed is that most of them are NOISY. The sound of an arrow sliding across a plastic or metal finger is just as alarming to game as string "twang", but many archers don't seem to appreciate this. The piece supplied was sufficient to cut and fit rests for both of my recurve bows; the only drawback is that installation requires the application of adhesive, as the material is supplied with a clean backing of hide. I would recommend a good quality contact adhesive, and exercise caution when coating the rest not to get any on the hair.
Excellent Rest!
Beaver fur makes an awesome rest! Easy to install with the recommended Barge cement. Some have commented on it being thin but its the same thickness of other longbow rests I have.
Great size on a quality rest.
Def worth the money and plenty of rest for any bow or 2 depending on your needs.
It's ok...
I used the material to cover the shelf on a Martin jaguar but when used with the strike plate it was way too thin and I had mount the plate at an angle
Next best thing to seal fur
I still have a small amount of seal fur but when that's gone I figured now was the time to start seeking alternatives.I am also a trapper so Beaver,Muskrat and While we are allowed permits for River Otter in our state I have never caught one but I am trying all kinds of things. So far seal fur was the best.
Yes, this is actual beaver hide. It has a decent amount of leather under the hair, so there is a little thickness. I recommend using a Barge Cement or a rubber cement to adhere it to your bow.
