Bow Silencer Felt Reviews

Easy to use and quieted my bow

Pete

Easy to trim and adhere, plenty of extra felt left over. Quieted by recurve bow down nicely and looks good too.

Not suitable for all jobs.

This felt is a good thickness for use under the limb butts for a quiet shot, or on the shelf for nice aero support. However, it is far too thick to be placed in the string grooves. Every time you string your bow, you'll find the string gliding over these thick pads and scraping them away from where you placed them. If the adhesive were stronger like what is on the back of industrial read more Velcro, it may stay in place better, but even so it would be too thick of a pad to be used comfortably there. It's fine for a shelf or under the limbs, but I recommend Moleskin if you want to silence your string grooves. They are much lower in profile and have very strong back adhesive.

Many uses

I use this as shelf material as well as in the string grooves in the limbs. The uses for this are many

These were cheap, easy to install and worked as advertised. There is plenty enough that if I need to add more or replace any in the future I can do so. Really, what more could you ask for.

Quiet Solution for Recurve

Easy to install on the Samick Sage limbs. Cut them to cover the loop to groove area. The bow is very quiet. I don't even notice it and I have not added string silencers yet

Worked great

Product worked great. I own a Samick Sage that was a little loud for my taste. I put these between the limb/string, and lined the limb pockets and it made a noticeable difference in the noise level. Very satisfied.

I had my doubts, but I was WRONG!

I did not believe in "Silencers". I bought this and the "puff Ball" and my bow is quiet. I still can't get over it!

Not a necessary buy

I will just use the soft side of velcro next time I try to get rid of string slap

Works and Good Value

I used this product in combination with Super String Leeches to quiet my two recurves (see the leech review). I installed the string silencers before adding the felt. The felt marginally helped to quiet the bow above that of the string silencers. Because I did not install this before the leeches, I don't know what effect it would have on dampening the noise alone. The large read more sheet is a good value. Because of the combination of function and value, I gave it 5 stars.

Awsome

Yes it is.

How thick is this? I am thinking of covering the limb pockets of my samick sage. Would this work or it there something thinner/better?

The Silencer Felt is about 1/16 thick and will work for lining things like limb pockets, grips, sight windows and string grooves. Another product that we carry that will work is called Super Pad, it's only 1/32 in thickness. http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?show=info&c=46&s=203&p=0&i=3555X#full

Asked by Steez 13 years ago

Where are common placements of this felt? on the limbs under the string, how far down, how much do you use (like strips)? Is there any pictures anywhere?

For the string grooves I only go as far down as the bow string t 13 years ago

For the string grooves I only go as far down as the bow string touches the belly of the limb. Maybe 1/2" past. As for in the shelf area I have seen people cover the entire rest area and sight window. They go up at least as high as the feathers on the arrow to make sure any contact with the riser is quiet. I do not have any pictures to show though I am afraid. Sorry.
