Absolutely
It's super quiet and makes the bow less vibration. Awesome product.
I RECOMMEND THIS FOR ANYONE THAT NEEDS TO QUIET THERE BOW
INSTALLED EASILY AND REALLY QUIETED THE VIBRATION NOISE.
Great at what they do.
Used these to quiet down a nice recurve bow but after 2 months without shooting the bow I decided to make my main now again. After putting the bowjax back on and giving it a few shots on of them came flying off. After more inspection the other 3 are starting to dry rot and peel as well. They were great for the time I had them but left in storage in a temp. controlled house they… read more seem to break down, at least mine did. I imagine with better care I could have had them for longer.
Not worth the time to put them on your string.
I was anxious to tryout the string silencers but was.very disappointed when I tried these on my Tomahawk S&S longbow. They were quickly replaced by my self- made wool balls. The product caused a distinct hummm from the string on my bow. When I purchased the product, I also ordered a set for my shooting buddy. He now has two sets as I gave him mine.
I would buy again.
I did not install as instructed on the package. Instead, I cut a slit in it. Slipped it over the string and used wire ties to hold in place, just like the originals used to go on. So far they are working great, staying in place.
Does what it says
Put These On My Recurve Along With The Navajo Wool Silencers. Bow Is Considerably Quieter With No Speed Loss. As Always Great Service From 3Rivers.
Silent and fast
These Were Easy To Install, Used Them In Addition To The Navajo Wool Silencers. My Recurve Has Never Been Quieter. And No Speed Loss, Great Product.
BowJax
Debated on a few options for string silencers. Ended up going with these for my older recurve bow. Easy to install. Been busy with work and poor weather lately so I have only shot indoors since getting these the other week. Shooting at 6yrds in a hallway I barely hear the bow. Not bad for indoors in tight quarters. I imagine once I am outside I won't hear the bow at all. Haven't… read more ran in through a chronograph to actually see if I gained any fps.
Good
Good product so far. Helps to quieten bow string. Easy to install. Can also double as a kisser button.
Removes 100% of string noise!
My gamemaster sounded like a guitar even after adjusting the brace height and installing other silencers. The bow jax eliminated the noise. Easy to install, with no need to tie in place.
The will help some but you will still experience some noise , you may want to try something like cat whiskers https://www.3riversarchery.com/cat-whiskers-bow-string-silencers.html .
Yes, they are effective. That's what I shoot and they work well at silencing the bow.
I would start with 2 and see how noisy it is and go from there.
Yes the BowJax will slide on to any string and any string material and will work great for you.
Personally I would use all 4. the best location is going to vary from archer to archer. I would recommend starting around half way up the limb.
These are probably real close to the lightest. I weighed several different types of silencers. The beaver silencers did show a little bit lighter by about 3-5 grains. However the BowJax seemed a little more consistent in weight.
They should work fine in that temperature.
I have personally never shot when it was that cold. We don't see those kind of temps here in Virginia. They are very soft and seem to be well made, but I cannot tell for certain how the material would perform in those temps.
I have shot at outdoor shoots in Wisconsin with the temp below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and had no problems.
For the best string noise isolation I would use two on top and two on the bottom.
Each trad bow is a little different so try different combos
We are using two at the top of the bow string and two on the bottom of the bowstring and we space them evenly. The work great on recurves and longbows. Dina
Yes you can put two on top an two on bottom on your recurve, but just putting one on top an bottom made a big difference. So not sure why you would need to put two on a recurve.
I shoot traditional, and found that two quiet the string noise nicely, however if you feel you need a little more, try using them in pairs about two inches apart from each other to start with. After you try it you can fine tune it by moving the silencers a little one way or another. I start with having the silencers about 6" from the tips of the bow. Good shooting. jim
yes 2 on top and 2 on bottom. you can move them up and down or closer or further from each other, till you find that sweet spot where any vib. is gone
two on the top and two on the bottom
They will typically provide an increase over other silencers. They weigh less and generate less drag. This allows the string to transfer more energy into arrow.
I can't confirm that these actually increase the speed of your bow. I got them for ease of installation and their simplicity. I was using the Puff Yarn silencers before and I was always pulling beggars lice out of them and they didn't shed water very well. I could see where they might increase the speed a little depending on what you are currently using. They are condiserably smaller than the Puff Yarn silencers they replaced plus the Puff Yarn silencers had beggars lice embedded in some the yarn that increased their weight and resistance. I am using them on my longbow and have been happy with them, but I didn't buy them hoping they would increase my bow speed. Hope this helps out! Good Luck! Chris
The slide onto the string; similar to No-Glovs or finger savers.
use a bobby pin (stolen from wife) insert it on loop of bowstring, insert end thru bowjax, grab end of bobby pin with pliers and pull bow string thru Bowjax.
I took a small pair of needle nose pliers and inserted in bojax...then using a sturdy oiece of fishing line looped thru bow string pull the bow string thru...very easy
They slide on over the end of the string.
You have to remove the string from at least one end of the bow. Take a piece of small diameter wire, and go through the string loop. Run the ends of the wire through the hole in the center of the bow jax, and pull the wire and string through using a pair of pliers. Reinstall string, and adjust where needed.
