Purchased this string to put on one of the 50" Martin fiberglass bows I'll be using to introduce newcomers to traditional archery. Well constructed. Easy to tune.

I would go with a 16 strand to be safe. If the string were to break it could damage your bow.

Given that Dacron is rated at 50# per strand, I have always used 2 years ago

Given that Dacron is rated at 50# per strand, I have always used a 14 strand on 40-50# recurves. Find yourself the book, 'The Traditional Bowhunter's Handbook' by T.J. Conrads and see how ordering your string an inch longer than the standard 4" shorter than AMO length for vintage bows like yours will allow you to "Fine Tune" your bow. Excellent info throughout his book and I highly recommend it to all who shoot a recurve.

I would go with the 16 to make sure, but should be ok with the 1 2 years ago

My bow manual says to use b50 dacron looks like all you have is b55?? What is the difference? Do you think I could use?

B55 elongates a tiny bit slower than B50. B-55 is 100% polyester 2 years ago

B55 elongates a tiny bit slower than B50. B-55 is 100% polyester with characteristics similar to Dacron, but manufactured in a way that makes it more durable, plus it has less stretch and creep than B-50 or B-500 B-50. Yes, you can use this. This is what we recommend in place of B-50.

very similar both are so the strings have some stretch. 2 years ago

I have 64 inch AMO American Archery bow. What length double loop Dacron string do I need? 61"?

With a recurve you will need to subtract 4" from the AMO and 3" 3 years ago

60" is what AMO standard recommends. If you do your own fine tuning, as described in 'The Traditional Bowhunter's Handbook', by T.J. Conrads, you can get a 60.5" or 61". The additional length will allow you more flexibility in adjusting fistmele (brace height), which is amazingly critical in fine tuning for accuracy.

Does this string have a larger loop on one end for a recurve ? The last time I ordered a string it came with the same size loops on both ends and wouldn't work.

I have purchased many of these in many sizes over the years and 3 years ago

I have purchased many of these in many sizes over the years and have never...never had an issue w/the loops fitting any of my recurves or the recurves of others. I don't recall having an issue of any kind with these strings.

You will want a string that is 3 in less than the measurement from string groove to string groove longbow and 4 inches less for a recurve. The double loop bow string is a great string that should work fine for you.

I have a smokey mountain Hunter bow with a 62" riser, I assume the bow string was 62" but it appears too long? I'm not sure what size I need..

If the total bow length is 62 inches you will want a actual string length of 58 inches. If you are not sure you will want to measure the bow from string groove to string groove on the belly side of the bow and follow the curves of the bow and then subtract 4 inches from your measurement and that will be your string length.
