Flemish String Jig Reviews

Nice jig

Nice little jig. Used it to make my 1st attempt at flemish strings. Works good only things I find wrong is its small and moves around too much for my liking. Wish it was a little bigger to be able to cable to table. But overall it works and made okay. Makes a nice package one doesnt have to build on your own

In my town there are two archery shops and neither of them make strings in house, after having to deal with long wait times as well as once where the wrong length string showed up I finally took the plunge and bought a jig, some rolls of b55, D97, and some serving thread. With this jig and a little patience I've made about 6 strings, and by number three I could already see that read more my strings and the professional strings were on par with eachother. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to dip their toes in the Flemish twist string making game.

Decent product and less expensive than most.

I wanted to start making my own strings and this device works great. The instuctions clearly say the longest string it can make is 70" with every peg decreasing string length by approx 1"

Well made jig!

This is a well made jig, especially considering the price. Everything works as it should. I just wish they would have put markings on the peg holes. I understand their reasoning for not doing so (everyone twists their strings differently, resulting in slight length variations) but I would have still appreciated an average marking, with a warning that it could be off. Other than read more that, fantastic product.

It is hard to say exactly what length string will be made with t 5 years ago

It is hard to say exactly what length string will be made with the pin in the 3 hole. This is because every person will have a different twist rate when the twist the string and make the loops. Moving the peg will generally change the length of the string by 1 inch. The big difference between recurve and longbow strings is the loop size.

You can go 1/2 inch increments by twisting the string. The jig would be set up to move the peg 1 inch increments.

I believe it will be close. I make 54 inch strings and I am about 1/3 of the way up. That said, if they are a little long you can trim the string. It will screw with your taper though.

I don't see why it wouldn't, as with all Flemish twist strings i 5 years ago

I don't see why it wouldn't, as with all Flemish twist strings it takes a little practice and trial and error to get the exact size you need. I have used this jig for making a lot of strings of different sizes with good results.

That is all going to vary from person to person. You will get a different string length than I would out of the same peg because we both twist the string differently.
