Handsome looking embossed leather sideplate. Great traditional look on my recurve.

Really good rest

I usually prefer hair rests, but I tried this on an older bow without a radiused shelf. It worked perfectly. You first place the small strip of leather on the shelf with one end pointing towards the riser, then trim. Next, you place the rest on top of it, like you would normally place the rest/strike plate. Trim as necessary. It's quiet, has lasted, improved the accuracy of the read more bow, and it's inexpensive.

Both the little leather strip and the big leather has adheasive on it, making it super easy to apply, I had not problems what-so-ever, I will buy again if in fact that I get another bow

The quality of the leather is good and the adhesive is strong. The spacer is another strip of leather.

Great rest

I built up the shelf on my bow. I placed the rest over the side of the grip and up and over where I built the shelf up. The rest stuck great. Will order more of these.

Shelf shooting at its best

to shoot well you need arrow as close to hand as possible, this allows arrow to be right on the shelf just above hand and aligned with shooting and draw arm, allowing straight line in all angles and cant of bow. Small piece of leather under leather allows arrow to rest on less surface making less drag on arrow. I have been using this type of rest for over 20 years and love em. use read more them on both recurves and longbows... with great results.

If I install in one solid piece as rest and side plate …. Would I achieve more "accuracy" if I ran the spacer under rest and side plate? Or just under rest is necessary?

I personally believe it would be better as them separated. You c 3 years ago

I personally believe it would be better as them separated. You can leave a gap for fletching clearance as well, but that is more "in my head" better for performance. The spacer is to create a smaller contact point from the rest to the arrow, so not a necessity, but it can help. I'd recommend at least on the shelf underneath.

What is the thickness of this rest please?

The thickness of the leather plate measures approximately 0.072" 3 years ago

Do you cut the material or place it on as a whole piece to make the shelf and arrow plate?

You can do it either way. 4 years ago

The main leather will be adhesive backed. The small strip will go underneath the main rest and plate as you press that onto the shelf. You will then crease the leather around the strip to create a radius effect on the shelf.

This looks like just a strike plate in the picture. Would I have to buy separate material for the shelf? I have a metal riser, the shelf itself is radiused but the sidewall is flat. So would this be a good option for building out a strike plate?

This will have enough material to be able to use it for both the 5 years ago

This will have enough material to be able to use it for both the shelf and strike plate.

I used this on my longbow and this strike plate was large enough 5 years ago

I used this on my longbow and this strike plate was large enough to use on the shelf and then as the strike plate. I used the small strip under both and there is minimal arrow contact. It is pliable enough I did not even have to cut, started on the shelf and worked it up the riser. Very satisfied!
