Limbsaver Longbow Bow Stringer, easy to use.
I saw the videos on using the bow stringer with recurves. And I saw the comments that bow stringers slip with long bows. Even though this was off putting, I chalked it up to user error and bought it anyway. Sure enough, the bow stringer works just fine with a longbow. I have no idea what the negative slipping comments refer to.

I found this longbow stringer well made and very durable. Very easy to use
Good thing to have around
Good thing to have on hand if you don't have a good technique to string otherwise. I spent years without and am thankful to have it.
So far, it's great,

Had to make a length adjustment but other than that feels like a quality product.
You can use your recurve stringer on your long bow without any problem.
I have both the recurve and longbow limb saver stringer. The most notable difference between the two is the length of the stringer itself. The longbow stringer is significantly longer and is designed for bows in excess of 62". You can use the recurve stringer for longbows; however, you will have to use one foot to hold the string down and will be in a less than upright position when nocking your bow string. In summary, longer bows require longer stringers if you want to maintain a stable comfortable body position when stringing your bow. I hope this helps, happy shooting.
a recurve stringer has a pocket on one end for a wide flat tip and a rubber slide on the other. a longbow stringer has a narrow pocket on both ends for a longbow. I do not recommend swapping them Sent from my iPhone
It should work, provided it is long enough. I use one on my longbows.
You may could use the recurve bow stringer to string a long bow, but to be safe I use the one specifically made for a long bow. The limbs of a long bow are much narrower than a recurve and the long bow stringer has a smaller cup to accommodate the narrower limb. Sent from my iPhone
yes the recurve stringer will work for the long bow but it traps the string on the end of the limb.Even though I have 3 re curve stringers I still felt better to pay a few dollars on a stringer for the long bow that I use.
Yes it will work with any longbow.
Yes, it works well with any lonbow, but abit tricky with recurves.
This should work with your Medieval longbow. It will depend on how big the tips are and how long the bow is.
I think this would work for your longbow. This stringer works so well because of the rubber pressure plate...it avoids putting pressure on the string notches. I personally would stay away from stringers that have the leather pocket on both ends instead of the pressure plate, because those cause stress on the bow's string notches.
We only recommend these stringers up to 80#. If you would like a string for a bow that is 100+ pounds, we can special order a heavy duty version.
Yes, it works just fine on a 68 inch long bow.
No, it will not damage your limbs. It will just be a little harder to string the bow.
You could but it is recommend that you use the recurve version for recurves. The limb pockets are designed differently.
The end of the bow will not slip out of the pocket if it is done properly. If you are having any problems take a look at our YouTube video or give us a call at 1-866-587-9501.
I was worried about that also at first. The pressure of the bow bending itself, keeps it from sliding. I have never had a problem with it. Amazingly how simple it is to adjust to any size bow by simple sliding the hard plastic grip. I might add that all my bows have a flat belly. Not sure how it would work on english long bow with rounded limbs. I purchased one from rudderbows and the leather pockets tore like cheap paper the first time I used it. This one 3rivers sells has tough plastic grip, very well made.
The Longbow limbsave stringer we have been using around the shop is 78" long from end of cup opening to bottom of rubber limb grip.
