Bow Snapped 2 Weeks into Ownership

Spaceman spiff

I bought the right hand, 60# version of this bow. It was great.. until it snapped in my hand without any warning. I always hang on a rack, string properly, shoot only proper weight arrows, etc. I have maybe put 200 arrows through this bow, and noticed a small, small hairline crack in the riser on the first day of shooting. I figured since it was under the finish that it must be read more fine, otherwise 3 Rivers would not have sold me this bow. So I kept an eye on it and shot between 12-40 arrows per day that I've owned it. Today, I strung it up to shoot with a friend, and I had drawn it back half way on my first shot and felt a large crack. The top limb snapped horizontally on the belly side about halfway from the tip. Never seen a bow snap like that on the belly side.... Lucky it didnt blow up when I actually released the arrow, someone could have been hurt. Should've spent the extra $$$ and got the Slick Stick.

Great bow.

Great bow for 3D , hunting or just shooting in the backyard. If your draw length is 29 inches or under this bow can't be beat. May stack past 29 inches. Very light with no hand shock. Shoots both wood arrows and carbon with no problem.

Really happy with my choice

This my first bow that's not an antique recurve. It was time to upgrade, especially to continue hunting trad. I was unsure at first: I didn't think I was going to like the looks and I thought it might be a waste of an extra hundred dollars over the recurve and original Mesa. No, I got exactly what I wanted. It's really great. It looks much better in person. Shooting is taking some read more getting used to because I've had short late 60's recurves but it is a beast of a bow, and as far as I can tell it is very accurate. It draws very smoothly. Dead in the hand, and I mean dead. My dog hated being around when I shot my old bow because it hummed after the shot. It wasn't shock really, it was just a little bit of music. This one has a pop when that string snaps straight but then its like you never drew at all. Its also SO much faster than I expected. It feels like a compound compared to what I had even after accounting for the power increase. I'm guessing it's a tad less forgiving than some others, but I've never shot bamboo, carbon, or a ff-type string before. It's definitely much more forgiving than what I had before. I'm probably going to change the string because the noise is distracting to me, plus it's just plain louder than it needs to be at 10-11gpp. Also the center serving is too short to even use a bow square on, which is annoying and puzzling because the serving is very well laid. Otherwise the string is well made. The finish/sanding/filling are just right. Very good except the string grooves need some extra sanding, they were very rough for some reason. The pre-cut hair plates were very slick to put on and they work great, I really appreciated that. They almost install themselves. Anyway I'm really deeply pleased with what I got and I do not regret skipping the bigger names. It's easily going to keep me happy until I'm ready for a custom.

A Very Nice Hybrid Longbow

The first thing i noticed when i pulled this bow from the shipping box was that I really like the finish and form of this longbow, is elegant and pleasing to the eyes but very functional and practical at the same time. I have been wanting to find another hunting bow for a few years now. I've been shooting a Bear Cheyenne and Take Down. After looking over the options at three rivers read more I decided to go with the simple design of a Hybrid longbow. The Mesa II is trimmed down and slim, its bare minimum mass but it shoots very nicely. It took a slight bit of tuning to get the buzz out of the string upon release but now its quiet and fast. Not as quiet as my take down but thats ok, the weight savings and looks of this bow more than make up for it. My side quiver fits good and quiets the bow down even more as expected. I plan on making a new slimmer quiver to match the feel of this bow. When I first pulled the Mesa II back i was surprised at the lively feel of the limbs. The Carbon bamboo core give them a lively feel. The limbs are slim and quick thanks to their narrow profile. The cast of this bow is very nice, It shoots where you look as an extension of your hand, just what you expect from a good traditional bow. In fact this bow shot so well for me I took it hunting the day after I set it up. Carrying it though the woods hunting is wonderful, its light and nimble and fits under my arm perfectly.

Ordered the Mesa II on 10-18-2021 and received it on 10-20-2021.Thumbs up to 3Rivers. This is a nice bow, looks good, made good, feels good in the hand and allows me to chock up on to the shelf so the arrow is as close to the hand as possible. I set the 40# bow up this evening and I'm pleased to say this bow shoots very well. Has plenty of cast (speed). I had no hand shock. Bow read more is fairly quit without string silencers. I'll add some latter. I am shooting Easton xx75 Camo Hunter 1916 at 29.5" with 145 grain head (arrow is abought 486 grains) and I will have no problem hunting white tail deer with it. Hope this helps someone.

Very solid bow. Would like to see different glass color. But bow still looks good. Bow performs like a $1200 bow. Heck of a bargain. My opinion carbon makes bow a little stiffer. But makes the bow more stable. Will buy a second one for a back up bow.

You will fall in love with this bow.

You will fall in love with this bow; whether it loves you back is another question. With its bamboo and carbon limbs, the Mesa II is the perfect marriage of trad and tech. It's light and it's quick, but perhaps because of that it can be a little unforgiving of poor form. For experienced shooters this bow will definitely become a favorite, but I would hesitate to recommend it as read more a beginner's first bow.

Hello,I I am considering a Mesa II longbow bow. With the rating of 40lb at 28" is this accurate? Also I pull 29 1/4" will the bow stack? What poundage can I expect at 29"? Please let me know. Thank you.

There is an industry set weight tolerance for weight markings. I 3 years ago

There is an industry set weight tolerance for weight markings. I believe it is up to +3 pounds and -2 pounds from how a bow is marked. As for your longer draw, the Mesa 2 should be a smooth draw at your 29.25" draw length. You can expect a gain of 2 or 3 pounds for every inch added past 28".
