Mini Limbsavers® Bow Dampeners Reviews

Quiet's the bow

JT

I put these on a vintage Ben Pearson recurve that I got off ebay. Before I added these, the bow was very noisy and and inconsistent, with a lot of hand shock. Now it is really quiet, and the hand shock is gone. Without these distractions, it is a lot easier to shoot. I may have to put these on some of my other bows.

Works fine

Planned placement stopped the loud string slap on my recurve. Make sure to use alcohol to prep the install spots and carefully align to allow for unstrung bow too.

Yes, works well good price.

These little things work. But first you must clean the area with a clean rag and denatured alcohol, let dry and peel off tape and press on. Hold briefly. That's all there is to installing them. I have been shooting/hunting with these for several years now without issues. I have put them on all my recurves and I have only lost one and that was due to me not cleaning the area properly.

They work...Until They Don't

The dampeners did a good job of removing all but the slightest vibration...until one fell off the bow after two weeks and about 300 shots. I tried to use a strog, thin carpet tape to put it back, but it kept falling off. After switching to another dampener that doesn't depend on glue (Pine Ridge), I removed the Mini Limbsaver that had stayed in place. The glue on that one was strong read more and probably would have lasted a long time. It's too bad that the adhesive backing was so inconsistent - these might have worked out to be my dampeners of choice.

Compact and helps

Small, easy to attach to your limbs and actually quiet down your shot even with their small size. I put two on the inside of each limb and they definitely deaden vibration and sound. I didn't realize how much they helped because when you release the arrow, the archer can always hear something, but my friends are always amazed at how quiet my bow is (granted I use a heavy arrow read more which helps reduce vibration). Well worth trying them!

I got these to try and dampen the noise from the bow on release. They were somewhat effective but the bow still has too much noise.

I thought they were larger but they seem to do the job and there is less vibration in my bow.

They work

Added these to my 45 lb. Sage limbs attached to a 23 inch Polaris riser. They added a quiet "softness" to the release that makes the bow a real pleasure to shoot.

Really Good

Does a good job of quieting down my shots. Pair it with string leeches or another string silencer and all you'll hear is the arrow hitting the target.

Do limbsavers affect arrow speeds? Where do you guys recommend mounting them on a recurve limb? Closer to the riser or more on the "curve" of the limb? Seems like the curve would lead to more vibration dampening but I don't know how or if that would affec

They come with "general" location suggestions, and these have worked pretty well for me. If you're a perfectionist you'll have to experiment with different locations, however, use double-back tape to experiment with because peeling off the backing and applying is a "permament" attachment! They are seperate pieces and not connected.

These will work on any bow. Just make sure the base pad that has the adhesive is not wider than your limbs. Mine have about half an inch on either side of the pad. I put two on each limb and it seems to work nicely. Josh

Be careful and go slow. A little acetone or mineral spirits will help but use sparingly. Try using a flat thin piece of plastic to "pry" them off. Thin floss would also work, possibly thread as well. I don't know why you would take them of though. Even if you don't like them they are small enough that they aren't really noticeable. Hope this helps. Josh

They are not mounted with suction, however, the adhesive surface is somewhat concave and flattens out when applied. The adhesive is very good and does appear to be double-sided tape or similar. Rarely, the adhesive can be pulled off of the silencer, but I've used double-sided tape to repair and re-install without problems.
