Pleasantly surprised
I was out shooting earlier today. For several shots I paid attention to string noise, I was quite satisfied with their dampening ability.
I would not buy this product again
Over the past few years I've noticed the length getting shorter and shorter. Now it's down to 4" which is too short to be efficient. I won't buy this product until they increase the length to at least 6".
Great look and functional too
I've used beaver silencers in the past but wanted to try something new. So I gave muskrat a chance. They worked just as well and stayed puffy better than beaver... But after a few months the tips tore where I had attached them to the string.. I think it's because I was using them on my Bear recurve and the D97 was just too strong for the thinner skin of the muskrat.. Now I switched… read more back to beaver and will use the muskrat on my B50 Dacron longbow string..
Didn't work. Expected better.
I am very disappointed with these. They were very thin, and there wasn't mutch to them. They did not quiet my bow near as well cat whiskers. A used bow I bought came with some type of fur for silencers. This fur worked much better than cat whiskers (experimented with both). I thought it was this fur on the used bow, but it clearly was not--not near as much fur, much shorter… read more hairs--didn't work. Strips were 4" long and not near as thick/bushy as what was in the insall video. Very disappointed.
Dead Silent
I just recieved these string silencers and they were super easy to install. after the first shot i could instantly tell a difference with the typical "duuuuuuum" after you shoot an arrow. these COMPLETELY eliminated this noise. would highly reccomend this to anybody!
Awesome product! I plan to buy again.
Amazing. I couldn't. Believe. How well they worked
Work well
Had this product installed by 3 Rivers as well. It keeps the strings quiet, and is water resistant, to a point. Overall, its a good product, at a good price, doing exactly as advertised. I wanted to keep my bow as "natural" as possible, and this product kept me within that.
Perfect for my longbow
I added these to my 66" White Wolf Stillhunter longbow, 45# at 28". The rubber ones on the bows fell apart after a month. These were easy to install. They look great on the bow. And most importantly, they quieted the bow down to as close to silent as I think one can get. I am looking forward to hunting with these on my bow. I have shot them in the rain and they do work when wet.… read more I highly recommend muskrat silencers for traditional bows.
Best on the market!
Muskrat is quiet, water repellent and durable. It will probably even outlast the string!
More not always better
I like the looks of the muskrat fur. Before I was using yarn for my silencers. I have tried all different types of yarn and they do a good job. One advantage of the yarn is I could trim it down until I got the best performance and then duplicate it on the next one. When I first put the Muskrat fur on my bow it was a little too much. So I weighted the yarn silencer and cut the Muskrat… read more fur to match the weight to the same weight as my yarn was. This works very well. I actually have the Muskrat fur a little lighter than the yarn now (I believe due to the length) and have great performance. It is quiter than with the yarn and I believe it will do better in wet conditions than the yarn does. The yarn collects the water much more than the Muskrat fur. The best part is the Muskrat fur looks more natural.
A pair
Yes, but you will want to serve the ends in.
