Best trad bow yet
Best trad bow I have used to date, has a smooth draw and plenty of power to boot. Does not come with a nock so I had to order some.
60" and 64" Are Great!!!
I have both the 60" and 64" models, and I draw to 31". I am amazed how smooth both these bows draw at 31", especially the 60" model. I actually like shooting the 60" better than the 64", but the 64" is also very nice to shoot. I would definitely recommend both of these bows!
Fantastic bow for the money
I just bought this bow a few weeks ago and continue to be impressed with it. The look and feel to it is very smooth and solid. For myself, there isn't a whole lot of handshock if anything which was surprising. I just took it out for a 3d shoot in the rain and it performed well. The price is great for what your getting. Can't wait to take this gem out to the woods this fall.
Great bow
I just received my 40lbs 64in Mesa today. What a great looking bow. Seriously, the pictures don't really do it justice. The bows comes with a self-adhesive rest that is already perfectly pre-cut (thanks for that!). The included string, a 16 strand Flemish twist from Tachyon Archery looks gorgeous and really well put together. I quickly set things up with a nock point (not included).… read more I set the brace height at 7.5in. I used 600 spine Skylon Frontiers (30inches), with 100gr points. I shot about 80 arrows, and this bow just shoots beautifully. There is no noise and no hand-shock whatsoever (and mind you, that's with fairly 'light' 600s). The 600 spines were perfect for the 40lbs at my draw length, which happens to be 28 on the dot. Skylons are a bit on the stiff side, and were shooting consistently to the left with my 35lbs SAS Pioneer, so it didn't surprise me that they were actually shooting straight from a 40lbs semi-longbow. Anyway, I digress... Suffice it to say, it's a great bow. It seems to shoot VERY consistently (or I was just in the zone today, but still). And it's FAST. I don't have a chronograph, but there was a very obvious difference in "zippiness", visible arrow speed, and target penetration compared to the 35lbs longbow I referred to earlier. The bow is SUPER light, even compared to my other 30 and 35lbs longbows, which are themselves very light. The grip is comfortable. It's not an overly deep pistol grip, nor is it the traditional straight longbow grip. It works for me and seems perfectly sized to 'normal' sized hands (3.5 inches width). Time will tell if this bow rates well in terms of durability, but I'm not too worried, judging by other reviews, and the fact that this manufacturer seems to be taking their products seriously. I'd recommend this bow without reservations, specially considering the very good price point.
I would by this bow again
I've been a recurve shooter for 55 years. I finally thought I'd give a longbow a try. Research told me converting to a longbow I should get a hybrid bow. During that research the Old Mountain Mesa was emerging to the top. By the time I decided to purchase they were sold out. I submitted my name to be notified when they were back in stock. Then I began a search for a used one. I… read more was looking for a 40#,64". By luck I found one in near perfect condition. When it arrived I set it up. The bow is a great and accurate shooter. I chronograph it shooting at my 29.5 DL 181 fps. I don't have all the pertinent data at this writing but will try to update it in the future.
Awesome Bow!
Have been using recurves for years and wanted a longbow. Saw this one and thought i would give it a try. I bought the 64" model at 55#. It is very accurate and sends my arrows down range with some authority. The bow is absolutley beautiful.
I would buy this bow again.
Great bow!
Great boy
I have been shooting bow for a few years about once or twice a week now. I am coming from a recurve bow and actually had been wanting to shoot a longbow for sometime now but just hadn't managed to get a long bow. This is my first experience with a longbow and I can say it is a great shooting bow. Very intuitive when switching from a traditional style recurve bow the grip is very… read more similar and in a few arrows I was able to start grouping pretty decent. This bow is very quiet. Much quieter than my recurve. The bow also seems to be a bit more forgiving as I used to get tired my recurve bow would get far more inconsistent. This bow seems to be much more manageable as you tire. This is not such a big deal if hunting but I found this bow to be a bit more consistent with slight changes in form vs my recurves I have used. The bow is very smooth in the hand as well no hand shock when shooting which makes it much more pleasant to shoot. Overall I couldn't be happier with this bow it looks great and shoots great and has a decent price point. One note to make sure of is the grains per pound of draw required of a minimum of 8 grains per pound for this bow that was something I had to address but 3 rivers sells carbon arrow liners to add weight to the full arrow vs adding tip weight.
Mountain Mesa longbow
I've been hunting with traditional equipment for 20+ yrs this my first longbow great looking and handling, plan to use it this fall
Great bow!
This bow is great! it shoots well and and is very accurate and powerful and super pretty. I have been extremely careful with it so I don't know how much of a beating it can take but so far absolutely no complaints.
We are hoping to get some this fall
The 16 strand would work great for that bow .
This bow has little to none depending on the arrow set up.
The 60" will work for you. I would say 30" or longer need the 64" model.
18 strands is most common.
32" would be max it would be uncomfortable for a draw longer than that.
Yes a D-97 at 61" would be a great string for that bow.
It depends on the arrow material and your point weight. As long as your arrow is close to 10 grains per pound of bow weight it will have no issues with penetration.
The 64" does not seem to stack its a smooth shooting bow.
Yes it does fit in the 62" case.
