Love the looks the feel of shooting but.

Loved the looks and feel after examining it for a while it's just a board bow with bad grain run out I'm a little leary on shooting from fear of it breaking on me but it's totally worth the price

Best Bow Ever

I can't believe how much I like this bow. I got it in the 40-45 pound draw weight, and it feels like it doesn't take much strength to pull, yet it fires fast and hits hard. Everyone compliments the beauty of the bow. People say it's big, but I think it's just the right size. It takes a lot of work to string and unstring it, and that's the only downside.

Wood finish is good. I replaced string without taking a single shot since it had practically no center serving. The product description is wrong on string size -- need actual at least 60" (not 58"). Bow is quiet enough with a pair of string silencers and not much hand shock. Sewed on a leather grip myself. One of the selling points for me was being able to shoot with either hand read more and I prefer the style and length over English longbow. Not that I care, but the "certificate of authenticity" is a joke -- just a little blurb on instruction sheet saying it was made by Grayvn (duh). However, it does compare fairly closely to the Oneida bow in Jim Hamm's encyclopedia.

Beautiful Hickory, No shock, Silent

Everything I expected from a traditional longbow and more. (note: this is not an 'Oneida' brand bow, but an Oneida native american tribe style bow made by Grayvn, USA). Surprisingly comfortable release, this bow is both gorgeous, powerful, and consistently smooth to shoot. Sturdy, and well crafted. It has an eerily quiet release and it utilizes its energy very very well resulting read more in a smooth reset with little to no shock. They must have found the perfect wood density for its shape and draw weight. This is a smooth, quiet, and consistent bow with excellent cosmetic appeal. I got mine in #45/50, the tillering and stain looks slightly different, my bow is thicker and darker than the one pictured. The dacron string is the way to go. The adhesive leather tab is tiny and easily removed or repositioned. Bow has small dotted line for arrow positioning on left side, but carved ambidextrously. Less noise and less shock than any other standard longbow or recurves I've shot. I was expecting it to be loud and hard on the hand, but it's actually one of the sneakiest bows i've ever handled. Arrows make more noise than the bow, at this weight.

I would recommend in starting at 6 1/2" to 7" to start but you can go up or down from there. You are looking for the sweet spot of the bow. Where it shoots the quietest and smoothest.

This is not a preserved growth ring bow. With the design of the bow (ex: wide limbs, flatbow) and the fact that it is made from Hickory allows the bow to be made where it does not need to be one growth ring.
