Precision Ground Tapered Bow Laminations Reviews

Room for improvement, but I'll purchase more

I was a little worried about the first sets of these I bought since they seemed fairly warped... but I suppose a little of that is to be expected with pieces this thin. All in all, they worked great, and others I have ordered more recently looked better. Just a quick pass down a sandpaper block and they were ready to go. I removed 1 star because one of them had a decent bend read more so I had to make the bow thinner than I would've liked. It seems like 3 Rivers only tailors to bows that are strictly 1" wide or thinner laminate bows. I like having the option to make all different types of bows, so as I've said in other reviews, I wish they would make these a little wider. It would allow us to make different styles AND allows us to pick the best part of the wood to work around inevitable imperfections in the woods.

Just recently got into bow building and ordered the osage lams and they glued up perfect, look great, and my first bow shoots amazing. It really helps to have the lams pre tapered. I do wish they would make em in 72 inch lenghts though.

OK,expensive compared to others

I've used lams from different vendors. 3Rivers is unsurpassed in terms of order and delivery speed, but the lams were not entirely straight and they are more expensive than others. Decent product, made a decent bow, but for the price I'd expect perfection.

I would buy again

Good quality laminations at a good price

Good lams, precise cuts and tapers just as advertised. I used a combination of 5 pairs of these lams and 2 sets of glass to build a very nice Longbow that pulls approximately 55lbs at 28 inches. I will definitely be placing another order soon for my next Longbow project.

These lams are 36" and sold by the pair. A laminated bow is generally weighed at 28" but the bow weight will depend on the thickness of the laminations and your glass. You will want to build a form for the shape of your bow and then build one and see where the weight comes out.

When determining the thickness of the lamination's for the final weight of the bow then they would all be almost identical. However they will all have slightly different characteristics. For instance the bamboo is going to be a little snappier (quicker) than the rest. This is because of the nature of Bamboo.
