Saunders Tip Guard Plastic Recurve Tip Protector
I simply like the fact that the lower string loop stays right where it's supposed to be particularly when using Flemish style strings.
Tip Guard
Good design

Meets my requirments
Just a little to slick, would like to see it a little more gummey.
Saunders protector is clearish gray!?!
The product was gray not black as pictured. I waited a year to get it. Does NOT FIT my bow! I had to cut it heat it up jam it on and burn it together at the tip because no matter what I did to it it wouldn't fit any of my 14 bows and it cut my string when I strung it. Luckily I did find a use for it.... a reason to be angry beyond belief!!!! I read the caption carefully and said… read more its universal basically. It didn't fit any of my 4 manufactured bows from pse, etc or my custom bows or my homemade bows!!!! I was not happy it needed a zero if I could give it was like a cm wide at the tip and they were expecting for it to be universal. It was about 2 inches long and maybe 4 or 5 cm wide at the mouth and 1 cm or less at the tip. DONT BUY!!!!!!!!
Good
It is as advertized and doesn't effect the bows perforance. As a plus it works great fith my bow stringer.
Works Well
This is a great product but I had difficulty getting it on. You cant put the string on first then put the protector on. YOu have to start the protector on the tip first. Then stick the loop of the string through the protector opening onto the bow tip. Then you have to carefully push the protector down as you push the loop of the bowstring over the bow tip working everything… read more into place slowly. THe protector will gradually stretch and slide over the bow tip. It does the job well once in place protecting the bottom tip of the bow limb. Almost forget, make sure you slide the bow string over the top limb first, because it is impossible to do so after you put the string on the bottom limb and put the protector on.
Great product
Great product, works well and does a great job protecting the tip when the kids uses my bow around the yard, especially on an older recurve, I recommend this for anyone that has an older bow, and uses it for a training aid for the kids.
Forever in use on all my bows
I have been using this on my recurves for a couple of years now, they can really take a beating. I used to use leather tip protectors, but they aren't as form fitting as these plastic ones are. Also the leather ones didn't seem to last as long as the plastic ones do, not that I'm extremely hard on my bows, but I do teach hunter safety, and the art of archery, so they can sometimes… read more get smacked around. These tip protectors are very durable though, I have not had to replace one yet. Since they are plastic they are water-proof, which is always a plus, and it is very light weight. The only downfall these have is that they are kind of tricky to put on with the string as they are supposed to be, but its only a very small detail it still only takes a minute or two to put on, I'd recommend this to any recurve shooter.
No, for safety reasons it's time to retire the bow or send it of to be fixed.
The one we carry is a clear grey color. We have a green one in item #4248X and a black one in #4029.
First, try by sliding the protector on the tip. Then stick the loop of the string through the opening of the bow tip. Then slide the protector down and push the loop of the bowstring over the bow tip stretching the protector as you go.
Yes you will still want to use the brush buttons.
Yes, this is a universal product that will fit on almost all recurve limbs. It will fit on all of the recurve limbs that we have in stock.
No, for safety reasons it's time to retire the bow or send it of to be fixed.
The plastic recurve tip protector is sold by the each and you only need one tip protector for your bottom limb, as it takes the greatest risk of being damaged. You do not need to have one on your upper limb, as it will make unstringing your bow difficult.
Just one per bow. You only need it on the bottom tip.
