If you're building self bows, laminated bows, or finishing one of our many bow kits you'll need a tillering stick. Ours is constructed of clear pine with a top notch of approx. 1½" x 3" and 28 side-notches cut 1/2" deep for strength, spaced 1" apart. Tillering board is 35" tip to tip and actual dimensions are approx. 3/4" x 3-3/8". (1 x 4) This board is ready to use, but if you'd prefer it sanded, stained, and finished, you'll do that at home. The tillering process is much easier with a tillering board. Make sure you include one in your bowmaking supplies. ...read more

Could be much better
The tillering stick is too wide, and made of cheap soft wood. It would be better out of any semi hard to hard wood.
Simple, durable, sent quickly
Bowyer Attached it to the wall with L brackets, it is durable and has been working well.
Work Saver
Received this product in the mail and it was well packed but still arrived broken. It was easily fixed, but the product would be better if it were made from 2x material rather than 1x. I will end up making another from 2x and using this one as a pattern. I thought that I would be able to get by with just spending the 10 bucks but thats ok. This product needs to be sturdier before… read more it can be of use for anything but a pattern. You could actually make a pattern out of 1/4" material (hardboard or whatever) and sell it instead for people to make their own. I would think that if you can make a bow, you should be able to make a tillering stick.
It's ok.
It is easier just to make your own
Good for the price
The slot where the bow rests for tillering is round, so it's good if you tiller the bows after you have shaped the handle. If you tiller before shaping the hanle like i do, the bow will twist when drawing to tiller. It is a good tillering board if you don't want to spend the time to make your own.
Fragile - Rather use home made one
This is poorly constructed. I tried to tiller a heavy weight longbow and the first time I used it I broke a notch off. Clearly was made for low draw weight tillering. The second time I used it I broke the tiller horizontally and also another notch off. Better off as fire wood. I never would recommend one to someone and believe that stronger construction (stronger wood material) would… read more probably solve most of the problem.
Great Tillering Stick!!
This is a great tillering stick. It allows for all of your tillering needs! Highly Recommend.
Great stick
Made my bow building very easy to do. Anyone can use this, novice or expert.
The poundage depends on the bow, this board will you to draw a bow up to approximately 32''
Yes, this should work to help tiller a flatbow.
Yes, I have made about 20 flat bows with this, the handle needs to be about 1 3/4 wide to fit in the notch as designed, of course you could always modify it if you like. Sent from my iPad
